"Broaden and Build Model"
editThe term "broaden and build theory" is used throughout publications on the topic, and "broaden and build model" is not. I have personal communications from Barbara Fredrickson stating that "theory" is preferred. Personally, I'd just redirect "broaden and build theory" and "broaden and build model" both here -- in any case, they all mean the same thing, and there's currently no text at Broaden and build model so there's no real merging to be done. Removal
editRemoved "Positive emotions are typically transient and easily disturbed, and the thoughts and actions they lead to are rarely relevant to immediate survival." from first paragraph. Is there a better place for this sentence? --Dr.enh (talk) 21:46, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Article should contain criticism
editCurrently the article does not contain any criticism or alternative viewpoints on the subject matter. However, these do exist, for example: The a priori nature of Fredrickson’s theory of emotions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.127.210.66 (talk) 06:48, 12 November 2013 (UTC)
Removed Criticism Section Agree that there may be criticism for this 'theory' however Wikipedia requires Reliable Sources, especially for articles in psychology. The article cited was a "final assignment for BSc in Psychology" of a student and seems to just be the PDF of their homework paper. When a Reliable Source is found this section can be added again. Cleanup
editI have given this page a copy-edit, restructured its content and added a section describing criticism towards the theory. Accordingly, I've removed the maintenance tags. I'm new to Wikipedia, so please let me know if I've done anything wrong. Thanks! Telemachus12389 (talk) 15:53, 1 June 2021 (UTC) I don't have a lot of experience editing Wikipedia. I noticed that the link for reference 4 is incorrect, but I'm not sure how or where to alter it. The reference for this article: Cohn, MA; BL Fredrickson (2006). "Beyond the Moment, Beyond the Self: Shared Ground between Selective Investment Theory and the Broaden-and-Build Theory of Positive Emotions". Psychological Inquiry. 17: 39–44. currently links here (completely different article): doi:10.1207/s15327965pli1701_02.
and should go here (correct): https://www.jstor.org/stable/20447297 Thanks for anyone who knows how to fix this. Hedgewood (talk) 13:56, 21 August 2021 (UTC)
