editHi. As a confused white man having encountered this page, I have a few things i need to point out. There is nearly no information on the image, and it's importance, and it clearly needs more explanation. the page is categorized as "unknown importance slave-trade articles" or something to that effect. i really think this page needs more text from someone who is an expert. thanks.Deathtalon (talk) 03:41, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
Spelling of Brookes
editBased on the image provided, the name of the ship is Brookes, and based on all of the sources. I have fixed the spelling, but there may be some concern there. Wcdavid (talk) 21:32, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
- The Trans Atlantic Slave Trade Database, contemporary issues of Lloyd's Register and the Register of Shipping, and news and ship arrival and departure data in Lloyd's List all use Brooks. She was named for owner Joseph Brooks, Jr. Acad Ronin (talk) 22:33, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
Clarification about who made this image
editFrom the article it seems as this image was drawn by abolitionists, but this is not explicitly stated. If that is the case it should be, as I do believe (I could be wrong about this) that diagrams like this had also been made by and for slave traders to help them optimally pack slaves in for transit. I just want to make sure this diagram is not one of those. Thanks LastDodo (talk) 12:20, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
