Visiting hours and directions

This information is not encyclopedic. Per WP:NOTDIRECTORY, Wikipedia is not the white or yellow pages; therefore, operating hours of a notable location are not suitable for inclusion. Additionally, Wikipedia is not a travel guide, and directions to a notable location are not suitable, either. K72ndst (talk · contribs) cited the WP:TRAVEL statement "Notable locations may meet the inclusion criteria." I completely agree with this statement, which is why I did not propose this article for deletion. I believe the cemetery is notable (others may disagree), but its visiting hours and directions thereto are not. KuyaBriBri^Talk 16:37, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

I really do not believe you can delete something with less than 12 hours of notice, and no discussion. I also do not belive that you would deign to delete an article about a cemetery that is part of the American Battle Monuments Commission ("why I did not propose this article for deletion" how dare you). I am going to put this information back into the article, and then take it up with the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Military history. The reason is that, although some of the criteria of Wikipedia is not a travel guide, this information is not readily available, and many cemetery articles list this information (hours of operation and how to get to the location). This Brookwood information is not in guidebooks (because this is a cemetery in a rural location). So today I will be posting this to the WikiProject Military history project to see what these experts have to say. If someone from that WikiProject agrees with your stance I'll back off. I'm also open to requesting a third opinion but will not request one and encourage you not to do so either until your request at WP Military History is answered (I'm sure neither you nor I want to be accused of forum shopping). In your request please cite specific cemetery articles on Wikipedia that list visiting hours and directions; don't just make a general statement such as "many cemetery articles". Precedent doesn't necessarily mean that it's correct, but it could give your argument more weight.

I also think you misread my statement. I only consider requesting deletion of an article if I am certain it fails to meet inclusion criteria. If I think it's questionable, I usually leave a {{notability}} tag and leave it for someone else to decide. You can go through the history and see that I left no such tag on this article. When I read the first sentence of the article, requesting deletion was out of the picture. I do have two cemeteries that I rescued from deletion to my credit: Cemetery of the Holy Rood and Holy Sepulchre Cemetery (Coram, New York), and as a result of that work am usually very inclusionist when it comes to cemeteries. Some discussion is occurring at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Military History#Visiting hours and directions for cemeteries, where the consensus seems to be building towards excluding visiting hours and directions. Visiting hours add to an article if there specific restictions. As with most cemeteries, this cemetery can be vistited during the daytime on any day. It is only closed on specific days (I believe Christmas and New Years Day). A link to a website such as the CWGC or the AMBC (which I have added) website might be more useful. Location

In the article it is stated that the American Military Cemetery is located next to the Military Cemetery in Brookwood. When I visited the cemetery however, I came to the conclusion that it is actually located within the Military Cemetery (as I presume that the fence is the boundary of the military cemetery. Maybe I am confused and there is a seperate American Memorial, but there is an American Chapel and a number of WWI graves near the junction of Lincoln Avenue and St Lawrence Avenue. Maybe I am just a stupid tourist who does not understand that wedging a cemetery between British, French and Italian cemeteries and memorials constitutes "next to". JHvW 10:32, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
