Addition of lists of shops, facilities, etc.
editThere have been repeated edits to insert lists of shops and facilities, etc. into the article. To one of two editors that do this, I've posted my reasoning on their talk page:
- Wikipedia is not a directory (see WP:NOTDIRECTORY). Articles on suburbs and cities don't carry indiscriminate lists of the shops and other facilities that are there. There are exceptions where there is notability. Perhaps:
- the shop that's been in continuous operation since 1796
- the headquarters of a national or international company
- the factory outlet that is the only one in the world for that store
- the country's first ever store to use self check-out
- Something notable about it. The encyclopedia doesn't want "George runs a shop with the best pizzas", or "Bucksburn has a MacDonalds".
So is there an argument for adding those things to this article? If not, please stop doing it. I won't continue to revert it every time it happens. signed, Willondon (talk) 23:20, 25 February 2022 (UTC)
