SELFPUB problems

edit

This article is 80% or more written from sources published by the subject of the article. While self-published sources can be used in articles about the publisher, they should not be the sole or even the primary basis for the article. Since the AfD will clearly fail, I hope that the many supporters of this article will find sources independent of the center and its backers (USAID in this case). • As I wrote at the AfD, WP:SELFPUB is not a deletion rationale, even if it were valid in this particular case. If you see problems in this area, simply tag the poorly sourced material as such, and look for better sources. S.D.D.J.Jameson 17:26, 24 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
    • If the article cannot be fixed, it is a valid deletion rationale. Whether it can be fixed or not is another matter. Robert A.West (Talk) 17:59, 24 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
It's not a valid deletion rationale, because in this case it is painfully obvious that the article can be fixed. S.D.D.J.Jameson 18:00, 24 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
      • So, you aren't really arguing that it is not a valid deletion rationale, just that this particular article can be fixed, so deletion is not the correct answer. Fair enough. If it is so easy to fix, can you or someone else familiar with the topic please just fix it? That way, you can get rid of the ugly tag, Wikipedia will be improved, and someone won't come along six months from now and propose it again. Meanwhile, I will go and find references for articles in fields with which I am more familiar. Happy editing! Robert A.West (Talk) 22:20, 24 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
