Good producers?

edit

Doesn't this totally go against NPOV? Wikipedia is not a directory.Gsherry 12:44, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

How could an entire entry on an important wine variety not include a section at least mentioning its taste? Good grief!

Well it could/should include something more about overall styles of wine perhaps but "taste" per se is fairly subjective, plus WP is meant to be an encyclopedia not a food or wine guide as such. And, on a more general point, WP pages only include what people get round to putting in them of course. If you think something isn't there that should be, you're as responsible as anyone else for it not being there. N-HH talk/edits 13:42, 3 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

I put the Aloxe-Corton and the Nuits-St-Georges links back as they were, since in my view, they were mentioned here in their capacity as being towns/villages rather than wine appellations, ie to make clear that the point at which the Cote de Beaune becomes the Cote de Nuits, in geographical terms, is a few km south of the town of Nuits St Georges. Although I did actually change Aloxe to Ladoix, as the latter is actually the most northerly village in the Cote de Beaune. As for the Cote de Beaune link, it already went to the page that refers solely to it as an area of wine production; plus is it even strictly an AOC in its own right anyway? --Nickhh 13:47, 27 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

California burgundy

edit

I had to go outside Wikipedia to find any information about California burgundies. I'm not that interested in the topic to write it myself for Wikipedia. Besides, I fear that wine snobs would toss out anything I might write about local wines. True. And I've BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 02:22, 11 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Burgundy wines (as being defined by French quality labels and by their presence as a UNESCO World Heritage site) aren't only a matter of grape varieties, but also a matter of soil/terroir, so the mere concept of "Californian burgundies" is preposterous. It's like conceiving "Main lobsters" that would be fished off Chinese or Argentinian coasts. At the very best, "Californian burgundies" might be a touristic argument, but it's oenologically irrelevant, and therefore has nothing to do on Wikipedia.
Also, assuming people would correct you just because they're "snobs" (and not because you'd be wrong, cause that kind of thing can never happen, right?) is just name calling, and I can't help but find it pretty ironic coming from someone who complains about rudeness on their personal page... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:CB10:86F2:2600:51B0:483F:92A0:B2E0 (talk) 20:32, 14 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

We also have dry red wine produced in NY sold as "Burgundy Royale", presumably a reference to the style of the wine. But what are the typical characteristics, in that case? Drsruli (talk) 21:58, 30 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
