factual error re Burke County, NC
edit"Burke County was the site of the Battle of Kings Mountain that pitted the Appalachian frontiersmen against the loyalist forces of the British commander Ferguson at Kings Mountain in the American Revolution, rather than waiting for him to come to them--173.188.210.180 (talk) 15:49, 7 August 2010 (UTC)"
The statement that Burke County was the site of the Battle of Kings Mountain is incorrect. The Battle of Kings Mountain occured in South Carolina, some 40 miles southeast of Burke County. Both Tory and Whig militia from Burke participated in the militia. Burke County was invaded for a brief period by a loyalists corps under Major Patrick Ferguson just prior to the battle.
