editOn "Supersize Me", Burt Baskin's nephew says that his uncle was 51 when he died. The date of birth and death don't jive with that. He also said he was 240 pounds. Does anyone know how tall he was? Just wondering. D.K.74.98.189.68 19:05, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Just corrected the weight, which was showing as "over 550 lbs." back to the figure given in "SuperSize Me": 240 lbs. [1]. We still need a reliable source for the age and weight, as both are from comments in the movie, where its his animal rights activist saying he weighed "about 240 lbs." and "I think he was 51".
early life facts
editthere are some contradictory information in this article, i tried to clean it up, but i can't find verification on what is true or not. The article originally had his birthplace as San Diego, then an addition of Streator, Illinios. Also he is stated to have went to college in san diego and university of illinois. Is there any way to verify this? the streater newspaper archives only go to 2001. thanks! Minnaert (talk) 16:13, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
The personal section has something wrong with it. It says his father, Harry, immigrated from Russia in 1925, married about 1902 and moved to Streater, IL in abou 1905. One of those dates has to be incorrect. It also states Burt was born December 17, 1913 in Streator, Illinios however his father did not immigrate until 1925? The Cite sources are to be questioned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.142.13.143 (talk) 22:06, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- This whole section needs reworking, imho. You are right about the dates not matching up. I did as much research as I could online and found some obituaries, including of Burt's brother and sister-in-law. His father's name is NEVER given as "Harold", only as "Harry" (first problem). Also, this statement: "His family was already famous for blood pudding." just seems wrong. There's no reference for it. It may have been a left-over from the early malefactors putting anti-semitic stuff on this page. (Just sayin', it's possible.) I'm new to Wikipedia editing, so I don't know what to do, but I'd like to just remove this whole sentence, based on this from "Wikipedia:CitationNeeded" page: "If you are sure the statement you want to tag is not factual, even if it does not come under either of the preceding headings, it may still be appropriate to simply remove the text (delete it!). Be sure to add a suitable edit summary such as "Very doubtful - please do not revert without giving a citation". If the original statement was accurate after all, this gives someone the chance to put it back, hopefully with a proper citation this time." What do you all think? I'm going to keep looking for references and I'd like some help re-writing the whole "Personal Life" first couple paragraphs. I haven't found a SINGLE reference to that 1925 date except that one website which doesn't seem very reliable - I'd like to just get rid of the 1925.
- Also, shouldn't the "Death" section go AFTER the Personal Life section? I thought it usually does. Thanks! BetseyTrotwood (talk) 03:39, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
