editwhich ought to be similar to Health informatics??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 150.191.80.9 (talk) 07:01, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
In French we say informatique appliquée à la gestion. Business Informatics seems the right english words. In Germany these terms seems also used in [1]one of the Germany online university. There is a page in the en.wikipedia on master of Business Informatics.
The name thus seems right, but we should detail the content.

There are also concerns that Business Informatics seems to be attempting to subsume Organisational Informatics. There are roughly four layers of informatics, each concerned with smaller groups. The first is social informatics - studying the information flow across a society. Lower than society is Organisational Informatics - involving the information flow across organisations whether they be businesses, not-for-profit companies or government departments. Below this level is business intelligence, which might also be considered the informatics of teams, and finally there's the informatics of individuals.
Business informatics is informatics that is (perceived) as relevant and useful to business. Organisational informatics is a larger area, has wider impact, and might be drawn out of Organisational Informatics. Just as Medical Informatics is the study of information as useful to medicine, and legal informatics the study of information as relevant to the law, business informatics is not a replacement or synonym for organisational informatics. - The field of business informatics specifically merges technology, business and society in one. Is this article on Business Informations pertaining to how informatics is associated in all fields?Madsngo (talk) 02:55, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
It's a bit funny to me and I'd argue telling that this article currently doesn't actually link to informatics (nor does the Information processing template??). Informatics relates to groups of people outside business. Just because academia has squewed towards catering for business doesn't mean this article needs to be so limited in it's scope, especially when imho there's more that could be said relating to group practices than what informatics covers already. --MilkMiruku (talk) 23:44, 17 August 2023 (UTC)

Evaluate an article
editThe lead includes a clear introductory sentence, but it should include additional descriptions of the topic rather than introducing the countries where business informatics (BI) was established. The lead does not address the major sections of the article. The article does not include information about which countries established the academic discipline. The volume of the lead is appropriate, but the content should be improved.
The content in the article addresses the topic and up-to-date. However, it should focus on details about what business informatics is rather than the differences between BI and information systems (IS). To improve the content, it should include the history of BI, what subjects it covers, how it applies to the society, what kinds of skills acquired through the discipline and additional information about career opportunities.
The article is written in a neutral tone. As the article compared the differences between BI and IS, it sounds that BI is greater than IS.
Some information in the article does not have references and citations. Links in the article are available, but most of the sources are published over ten years before.
The article does not have grammatical errors. However, it should improve the quality of content and its organization. It has only basic information about the topic. The broken sections are not well-organized, and it should have additional sections to enforce the article. The article does not include any images. It should include some images to improve the quality of the article. In the talk page, some concern about the topic is discussed. For example, BI has another meaning in Germany, and BI may be subsumed Organizational informatics. This article is rated as Stub-Class and Low-importance.
The article is poorly developed and needs improvement. It should include the detailed description of the topic, its history, a skill acquired through BI, and how it can be applied to society. This article clarifies the differences between BI and IS, but no more than that. In the Career prospects section, it may include the details about kinds of fields in business BI is used and its developed explanations. Momokahoriguchi (talk) 01:19, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
I would like to see how this topic was developed such as by whom, a brief history, why it is needed, what makes it stand along. i think this article to date is how it is like information systems and not how it is as a stand alone topic. Uw6052tu (talk) 21:37, 12 September 2020 (UTC)

Article Evaluation
editThe lead is relatively short but does contain a brief description of the major sections. It does not include information that is not present and is pretty concise while describing the topic of the article. The content is relevant and it is up to date. The content is quiet brief, however, and some sections only lead to another article and link. It does deal with the equity gap. The article is indeed neutral and fact-based. There seemed to be no underrepresented or overrepresented viewpoints or any persuasion to lead the reader toward or away from a position. Yes all sources are backed up with secondary sources and there are enough sources with the given material. The sources in themselves contain depth but some are irrelevant to the topic. The sources are current as well. They are written by a diverse spectrum as well. The article is concise and I could not find any grammatical errors. The organization of the article could be better achieved as the subsections could contain more content. They seemed empty and the article seemed too short to be considered beneficial. There are no images or media. The article definitely needs help. Even though it might contain factual information, much of it seemed incomplete and underdeveloped. It needs to be seriously improved through thorough content research and it needs to be done by someone with experience as the links seem to obtain more information about the topic of the article than the article itself. How come the journalism section link was more informative about the topic than this link? Thenihalsingh (talk) 02:54, 16 September 2020 (UTC)thenihalsingh
