Incorrect Bra Sizes; Corseted Woman

The bra sizes in the discussion of cup size are incorrect. The number in a bra sizes refers to the underbust, not bust, measurement, so a woman with a 36" bust who wears a C cup would actually wear a 34C. Also, illustrating how "women have narrow waists" with a drawing of a woman who is clearly wearing a corset doesn't make sense; why illustrate a supposed "norm" with something that is artificial? The band size is the circumference actually at the bust line behind the breasts. The article's current use of "rib cage" is close enough. The various descriptions involving, under-bust, offsets, over-bust, etc. (and there are many) are all just methods of "estimating" the actually required dimension, since the breasts block a direct measurement. In addition, vanity sizing practices will have some bra's sized differently than their actual band or cup size. Units of measure and cup size letters will vary regionally, but the US units and sizes seem to be the dominant when provided in a girl's "measurements". On a different note, there are THREE different ways a girl's "measurements" are presented. Bust circumference-waist circumference-hip circumference is traditional. While on the internet, some profiles DO use bra size-waist circumference-hip circumference, I more often see bra size replaced with the bust circumference and the cup size. I believe this is often done out of ignorance. But, I understand it is also done to "enhance" the apparent size - esp in certain segments of the modeling/acting industry (rhymes with torn). "Anorexic" waist values. Head is 23 inches.

Although I have to add that the average circumference of an adult human head is about 23 inches.

I don't think under normal circumstances should a adult person's waist be the same circumference as his/her own head.

Take this value as a reference.

Too many models or actors have been misquoted to be near equal or perhaps below 23 inches for their waists.

Really? If so, my head is significantly smaller than average- my waist is 23 inches, and I agree that having your waist and head the same circumference is scary. From a quick google search, it appears that head circumference of over 22 inches is rather large. Where did you get your measurement from? {{Sonia|ping|enlist}} 07:24, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Men’s hips measured at genitals?

This is simply wrong, not to mention awkward in its placement and phraseology. Hips are measured at the widest point. It may, or may not coincide with the genitals, frequently not. 173.86.60.25 (talk) 07:44, 15 April 2023 (UTC)

Hourglass figure is exceptional

When I searched for body measurements of females, the first paragraph that popped up was about 36-24-36(Hourglass body). What is the need for this information? It is clearly an unrealistic standard set for women and why should this information appear while searching for body measurements. What if young girls see this and consider themselves imperfect just because they don't have hourglass body. Foram1999 (talk) 04:36, 13 July 2023 (UTC)
