What is butt welding?

edit

The first paragraph goes on and on, but it never describes what butt welding is or how it's done. -- Dough34 (talk) 23:23, 23 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

The Leading section can be reduced to the following: "Butt welding is a commonly used technique in welding that can either be automated or done by hand on steel pieces.[1] Butt welding can also be done with brazing for copper pieces. It is used to attach two pieces of metal together such as pipe, framework in factories, and also flanges.[1] Butt welding is accomplished by heating up two pieces of metal, or applying pressure, or doing both of those.[1] Butt welding specifically refers to when two metals are butted together with the abutted ends shortened and thickened and fused together under heat. This is opposed to Fillet Welding which is a weld with a triangular cross section joining two surfaces that meet in an interior right angle. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.162.0.43 (talk) 19:42, 8 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
