Boundaries
editThe boundaries of the area are not sourced. Is there a reference for the Market only extending to Murray St? The ByWard website says the market extends to Cathcart, and I believe that is correct. I'm going does this info on francophone, etc. come from? Alaney2k 16:11, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Obama mania
editI think there should be mention of obama in this article. A walk through byward today shows many obamaish things and is clear hes had an notable imapct of the cultural distinctness of the market 65.94.242.176 (talk) 21:45, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
Copyvio?
edit- Note: moved from Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ottawa#Byward Market copyvio.3F. -M.Nelson (talk) 22:46, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
I was looking through this article and noticed a very large amount of text without wikilinks, which I find always smells a bit like copyvio. Looking through the history, the majority of the article was written by 192.234.223.100 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) in May 2007. The IP has a history of mixed contributions, and made only vandalism edits near the time of the above edit, but I can't find any sources confirming that the above text is copyrighted. Furthermore, the article has been modified since then (though the majority of the IP added text remains). Any ideas? -M.Nelson (talk) 22:41, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Could have been typed in from an offline source (book or brochure). I tried looking for some of the phrases in Google (including the books search) without success. However, citations are absent which suggests that much of this text is not properly sourced. The text probably needs to be wiped out and rewritten (following the general points that exist now) so that sentences are based on WP:RS citations. Thus, tags added which call for a rewrite and more sources. Dl2000 (talk) 23:39, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
When was this ByWard spelling invented? It looks ridiculous.
The correct spelling has always been Byward.

- It seems to be the official usage per ByWard Market Business Improvement Association, Lowertown West Community Association, Ottawa Tourism, Ottawa Citizen. I can't find any "official" uses of "Byward". -M.Nelson (talk) 02:15, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
