Why Schenkman is Notable
editI'm surprised to see the article declined for non-notability.
According to the criteria for musicians and ensembles in the Wikipedia:Notability_(music) article, Schenkman's recordings alone should suffice. That article suggests a notable musician "Has released two or more albums on a major record label or on one of the more important indie labels." He has 8 solo and 13 ensemble recordings on Centaur Records: "Centaur Records is one of the oldest and largest independent classical labels in America." Plus one on Naxos Records: "Naxos is the largest independent classical label in the world and one of the two largest-selling classical labels." And 16 on labels not in Wikipedia but nonetheless well known in the classical scene.
Another suggested criterion is: "Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent from the musician or ensemble itself." The article does include references to articles on Schenkman in the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Seattle Times, etc.
Maybe the last editor didn't realize that Schenkman's recordings are on notable labels because I formatted the link incorrectly in the discography. That is fixed now. RoseSong (talk) 03:55, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
- I'd say this subject is notable based on the sources provided. I agree with Worldbruce's suggestion that it could be accepted and then tagged with BLP primary sources. wia (talk) 23:53, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
