Are you guys joking about Byzantine not being note-worthy? They're frickin' famous! They have all of their CDs in the record stores in Pittsburgh, how much more well-established could a band be? 66.71.68.144 19:50, 19 July 2007 (UTC)DougReply

A lot more well established, actually. That being said, 2 (soon 3) records released on Prosthetic Records label merits inclusion, IMO. youngamerican (wtf?) 20:05, 19 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

If every band that ever played in a low rent bar that pushed out a low rent CD was noteworthy then there would be no room for buisness men that no one ever heard of 24.101.172.61 (talk) 04:59, 21 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Album cover use in discography

edit

This band article included album covers in its discography. These have had to be removed. Please see #1 under "unaccepable images" and WP:Albums#Discography. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:53, 27 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

GA review

GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria

This article is in decent shape, but it needs more work before it becomes a Good Article.

  1. Is it well written?
    A. The prose is clear and concise, and the spelling and grammar are correct:
The lead needs to be expanded to summarize what the article is talking about. "They wrote four songs and jammed to a drum machine", needs to be either explained better, cause it sorta doesn't make sense. It would be a good idea to add some of the hits that the band's albums had. "They also use breakdowns, instrumental or spoken word parts", needs a little explanation.
    B. It complies with the manual of style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation:
Albums and title of magazines need to be italicized, per here. It would be a good idea to link full dates, per here.
  2. Is it verifiable with no original research, as shown by a source spot-check?
    A. It contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline:
    B. Reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose):
This sentence ---> "Byzantine formed in the spring of 2000 by bassist Chris "Cid" Adams, guitarist Tony Rohbrough and vocalist/guitarist Chris "OJ" Ojeda after their former bands New Family and Temper split up", needs a source. A source is needed for this ---> "Seven songs more were written and 2000/2001 demo was recorded in a friend's studio and self-released in 2001". A source is needed for this ---> "Subsequently the band recruited long time friend guitarist Matt Wolfe as a drummer". A source is needed for the release of the third album. In the Musical style and lyrical themes section, "The Fundamental Component is characterized by long songs, melodic thrash and Tony Rohrbough's scathing guitar solos while still embracing technical chaos and the violent groove of bassist Chris Adams and drummer Matt Wolfe", needs a source.
    C. It contains no original research:
If more sources can be found, then they should be added.
    D. It contains no copyright violations nor plagiarism:
  3. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. It addresses the main aspects of the topic:
    B. It stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style):
  4. Is it neutral?
It represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each:
In the Musical style and lyrical themes section, this sentence ---> "Byzantine is also suggested to be talented musicians that play technical metal and retro-minded Bay Area thrash", sounds like POV and needs to be re-written. "Growing up in West Virginia, which is not well known for its metal scene, has helped Byzantine develop a unique sound", does "which is not well known for its metal scene" really important to include with the sentence?
  5. Is it stable?
It does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute:
  6. Is it illustrated, if possible, by images?
    A. Images are tagged with their copyright status, and valid non-free use rationales are provided for non-free content:
    B. Images are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions:
  7. Overall:
    Pass or Fail:
If the above statement can be answered, I will pass the article. Good luck with improving this article! Also, contact me if the above statements are answered.
