editThe official language in Cabo-Verde is portuguese, as attested by www.governo.cv Indeed, that the hymn is written in portuguese is not hard to confirm. On the other hand, people speak the dialect of their island while in the archipelago or with other nationals; the dialects are usually brought under the common name of cape-verdian creoule, and there have been efforts to consolidate it as a language. Translation
editWho backs up the translation "Song of Freedom"? Is there a reliable source? If not, I would suggest the more exact "Freedom Chant", or "Chant of Freedom". What do you think? --Waldir talk 09:04, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
