Requested move

edit

A very lengthy discussion has taken place at now archived WP:Requested moves/Tennis regarding the use of diacritics in the titles of tennis-related articles. The result of the requested multiple moves was to keep the articles as they are now, using diacritics, and therefore this move is in keeping with other articles of a similar nature. Additionally, English sources do sometimes manage to get it right, and I have found several English sources which present his name with the acute accent in place, including The Guardian, other encyclopaedias, athletics statistics sites, Yahoo, etc. Maedin\talk 17:01, 27 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

As this was listed at WP:RM for over a week and no opposition to the move was voiced, I have completed the move. Maedin\talk 18:37, 4 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Inviting Tennis expert to put his case

edit

I'd be most grateful if Tennis expert were to put a convincing case that some consensus exists in a corner of WP that holds back this and other tennis-related articles from moving with the times; specifically, WRT their updating to the now widely accepted change in the treatment of dates, per the central guideline for dates and numbers, MOSNUM. I do not believe that such an outlying consensus exists; but if it did, I'd like to know why the centralised consensus for the whole project does not override this.
