Unnecessary
edit- Classic BattleTech, a science-fiction universe
- Cowboy Troy, an American country music artist.
I removed these two; I don't think they qualify since neither is commonly known by their acronym. This disambiguation page is too long anyway.
How does one define 'too long' for a disambiguation, anyway? 76.114.184.239 17:30, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Cognitive behaviour therapy or Cognitive behaviour therapies?
editCognitive behaviour therapy could refer to a specific technique developed by Aaron Beck or an umbrella term for a group of cognitive and/or behavioural therapies such as REBT. see for example: Churchill, R., Moore, T.H., Furukawa, T.A., Caldwell, D.M., Davies, P., Jones, H., Shinohara, K., Imai, H., Lewis, G. and Hunot, V., 2013. 'Third wave'cognitive and behavioural therapies versus treatment as usual for depression. Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, (10). It is sometimes refers to cognitive behaviour therapies, see: List_of_cognitive–behavioral_therapies Notgain (talk) 05:13, 20 July 2019 (UTC)
Primary topic? Redirect by default to Cognitive behaviour therapy?
editThis page CBT was created 16 years ago, it was a redirect to Cognitive behaviour therapy. I ran a comparison using google ngram and it shows that the other items on the DAB are very rare in comparison to Cognitive behaviour therapy. I thought it would be uncontroversial. There were no inbound links to CBT (disambiguation) so it wasn't breaking any redirects. My intention was to delete CBT (disambiguation) so CBT could be moved there to preserve the history and then create a redirect from a new CBT page to Cognitive behaviour therapy.
If we can agree that CBT is the primary topic then I suggest that move the DAB CBT to CBT (disambiguation), and create CBT with a primary redirect to Cognitive behaviour therapy. Notgain (talk) 08:52, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
- Also posted here: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Disambiguation#CBT_DAB_primary_topic_? Seems that CBT/Cognitive behaviour therapy is about 5 times higher frequency then CBT/Core body temperature. Notgain (talk) 09:14, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
- Note that although created as a redirect 16 years ago, it was turned into a dab page 15 years ago. PamD 10:22, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
- While the ngram does show the phrase “cognitive behaviour therapy” is more common than the others, it has zero indications to establish that “CBT” is used more to refer to the therapy than the others. older ≠ wiser 10:49, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Bkonrad:, Following Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Is_there_a_primary_topic, I did a google search for "CBT -wikipedia" using the google link to eliminate personal or local bias. Of the first 100 results, only one was not for "Cognitive behavioral therapy". A similar result was found on Google books. The results from news search is a bit more variable but I estimate 80% of news results mentioning CBT related to "Cognitive behavioral therapy". There were a few results for "Computer-based training". Also, in the recent news/media searches, I saw a couple mentions of a company NYSE:CBT. What else do you need to know? Notgain (talk) 15:23, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Bkonrad: Rather than redirect, do you think that Cognitive behaviour therapy be moved to the top of the page? Notgain (talk) 21:09, 26 July 2019 (UTC)
Other possibly CBT entries
editIn checking whether CBT is the primary topic, I found some more possibly entries. Psychology and Psychothearpy:
- Cognitive behavioural therapy
- Cognitive behaviour therapy
- cognitive-behaviourally informed treatment (also CBT)
- cognitive and behaviourally therapies (also CBT)
- cognitive and behaviour therapies (also CBT)
Currently CBT (therapy) is not properly disambiguated here or on the target article. Others (not yet on disambiguation):
- cyclic butylene terephthalate
- Cord blood transplantation
- cone-beam tomography
- Carbon-Burned Tax
- cord blood transplantation
- cBT (cyclic butylene terephthalate)
- Cyclic's macrocyclic butylene terephthalate (CBT)

- Constant beamwidth transducer
- Cercospora beticola/ Cercospora beticola toxin
- Community-Based Tourism

But most don't match and exact topic and would require some deeper thought. Some are very low frequency (some less than 100 results). Notgain (talk) 12:19, 29 July 2019 (UTC)

Cock and ball torture or "CBT" for short is a form of torture which tortures the male genital's. This form of torture has never been popular or very useful however in recent years it has been a running joke on social media. 67.188.26.99 (talk) 19:51, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
- Not done: Needs to have a wikipedia article to disambiguate to. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 20:26, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
- This is not a funny joke, it is an embarrassment to Wikipedia and reflects poorly on the individuals who have the means to correct it. "Ha ha, people who want to know about therapy get COCK AND BALL TORTURE thrown at them instead!" It's a pity that something that should be a resource for people in need is being used for juvenile graffiti by the supposed adults in charge. 24.117.137.224 (talk) 04:11, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
