Talk:CHAN-DT

Latest comment: 4 years ago by RMCD bot in topic Move discussion in progress

Is there any reason whatsoever that this page is at CHAN (a name which maybe 3 people in BC use) instead of BCTV? Kirjtc2 03:43, 15 Jan 2005 (UTC)

And these "3 people" would be who? It is because that is there call letters, as already answered. Other stations searches on this website are referred to by station identification ("call letters") too. a search for "bctv" will re-direct to you to CHAN. User:Xm2631

The current logo used on the wikipedia page for CHAN is not the logo used On Air. CHAN (BCTV- Global) simply uses the Global logo for the ident on air. Shouldn't this be reflected as such. This is sort of like the CIVT logo situation too I suppose. I don't know. Just a thought. 24.81.146.253 03:33, 26 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Digital

edit

According to the page, digital was expected September 2006. It's now November. Any news to update this? Might be good to at least state it in past tense now. User:pbryan 2006-11-03 09:46 PST.

What happened to all the neat photos from the station's early history? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mjlarochelle (talkcontribs) 05:06, 13 January 2007 (UTC).Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Chan8.png

edit

Image:Chan8.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:15, 2 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

If CHAN has separate transmitters

edit

If CHAN has separate transmitters, does CHEK? I don't get CHEK over-the-air at all, so I wouldn't know. If it does, then I think that the category "List of Transmitters of CHAN-TV" could be changed to "List of Transmitters of CHAN-TV or CHEK-TV". There could be a second table within that category that is similar in format to the table for CHAN-TV.

The image Image:Old Global TV Logo.svg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

CHAN's ratings

edit

Global BC's local newscasts are currently number one in Vancouver and British Columbia, and there are some recent ratings to prove this.

In the first two weeks of September, Global’s 6 p.m. Newshour averaged close to 300,000 viewers each night; CTV at six, I’m told, averaged 69,000; and, CBC at 6 p.m. only 23,000… a distant third and apparently no boost at all from last Fall. (Although interstingly, CBC at 5 p.m is up 5,000 viewers to 18,000. Hmm.)

At 5 p.m. … Global pulls in a 2.1 SHARE ; CTV a 1.0; and CBC .o2

At 6 p.m. Global a still whopping 5.8 SHARE; CTV 1.9; and CBC .o2

Number of hours in the newscast output according to schedule

edit

When I took a look at this article, which was chosen at random, my findings revealed to have some minor schedule in regards to the number of hours in a newscast. As it turned out, there were some number of hours that were a bit off on the weekdays, so I corrected portion of the article according to the schedule as appropriate. In regards to the weekends, I was not sure of the actual number of hours it airs on the weekends; particularly the noon newscast - those to be adjusted later. [3] CHAK 001 (Improvements? 7850 Enterprise Opening

edit

There is only one website listing when the facility opened, which had occurred in 1962 according to the website. The previous edit had mentioned "in early 1961", and for a fact, this information is from a television film that the station produced open it's launch, but it is only attainable through the station itself, so for the time being, we can use the referenced website for the year that the facility opened. [1] There is also another video, which is shown on youtube where it is mistaknely mentioned that the facility was opened in 1960, which is slightly inaccruate.
