  • Not a review, but a question. Why is it remarkable or "hooky" that CNN used a "store-bought" desk as part of its set? Cbl62 (talk) 20:08, 3 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Mainly because of the idea that this show is often used as a placeholder/interim filler, but if you look at how it was placed (near an actual desk that was already included in the studio they reused) it proves not much thought was placed into it for such a major broadcaster. I will leave it to others to review the hook. From my perspective, it just didn't seem particularly hooky, provocative of even a mild "wow" reaction, or something that made me think "tell me more". Cbl62 (talk) 21:08, 3 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
  •   Both hooks are cited inline and verified, but I'd have to agree with Cbl62 that both are on the meh side. I don't think the desk angle comes out as exciting, and ALT1 is rather pedestrian as currently written. I think there is some potential with the "CNN Tonight is used as a replacement" angle, but as currently written, the hook isn't really that exciting. Maybe mention some specific examples of such replacements instead? As for the article itself, it meets DYK requirements and a QPQ has been done, I also didn't find any close paraphrasing. Had a few more potential ideas:
... that after ending in May 2021, CNN Tonight premiered again in December 2021?
... that after several pilot runs for shows involving him, the CNN stopgap CNN Tonight later evolved into a prime time program for Don Lemon?
I think focusing more on Don Lemon may make things a bit more notable. ViperSnake151  Talk  01:51, 9 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Eh, if people don't know who Don Lemon is (like I am), I don't think that angle would work. There might be more promise in the ending/premiered angle hook though. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 01:59, 9 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
I had one more idea based on something I just added:
... that Don Lemon "didn't mean to set the internet on fire" when teasing the rebranding of CNN Tonight to Don Lemon Tonight? [6]
Out of everything I've come up with, this is probably the best one. ViperSnake151  Talk  02:08, 9 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
I think that's somewhat more interesting since, despite the mention of Lemon, the main hook fact or interesting point doesn't require knowledge of him. I do wonder though if it's unnecessary to link to Lemon since his show's name is already linked. @Cbl62: Are you fine with the last proposal? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 02:19, 9 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I think the new hook is fine, though I agree with you that the link to Lemon is not needed given the second link to his show. I will go ahead and do a full review within the next few hours. I see that Naruto has already done a full review, so this is good to go as far as I am concerned. Cbl62 (talk) 03:01, 9 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Okay, let's go with that. It's cited inline and verified in the source, and is the most interesting out of all options. I've unlinked Lemon in order to encourage people to click on the main link instead. All other hook proposals are struck. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 00:54, 10 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
