Graph Width
editThe graphs in 'statistics' section are too wide (especially for mobile) but even on my desktop! . Too much horizontal scrolling. Not necessary as most of the graphs aren't even that cramped. I fixed this the other day now seem to be back to 850px. Think we can easily improve display & readability. Thoughts?
- The width has to increase sometime, within 2 weeks it will be very hard to read, within two months impossible..... look at the graphs in Wales. The alternative is to change to a weekly date or start a second set of graphs. There is also the question of the list of data getting longer and longer, it can be abbreviated neatly as in the Jersey page. -- Ânes-pur-sàng(Talk) 20:00 6 June 2020
Need to use more authoritative sources
editI've updated the table of deaths in the article using the Daily Covid-19 Bulletin issued by the Public Health Agency of the HSC. This is the official recorder and is much more reliable than the evening news broadcasts which were being used.
It obviously means that some of the graphs on the page are now out of date. But the correct move is to update the graphs not undo the changes to the table. The number of cases is also in need of revision but is harder to do from this bulletin as the graphs are le Thoughts?ss clear. Chris55 (talk) 19:25, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
Comparisons in Ireland
editI feel the death comparison with Ireland with reference to the Newsletter story is at best only painting a partial picture and cannot be used to make the statement that Northern Ireland has recorded fewer deaths per population than the Republic. Why?
First off, the cited story is from the 9th April, which is woefully out of date. Secondly, if you read the story you'll see that the NI numbers used for that story are based on Department of Health statistics which mostly only include hospital deaths - unlike the numbers used to compare ROI which includes all settings were mortality occurred. Even the Newsletter article itself acknowledges as much.
The latest NISRA stats up to May 1st were released today https://www.nisra.gov.uk/sites/nisra.gov.uk/files/publications/Deaths%20Registered%20in%20NI%20-%20Week%2017%20-%202020.pdf, and show 517 Covid-19 related deaths in Northern Ireland up to and including 1st May. The same data up to the 1st of May for ROI can be found at ECDC: https://www.ecdc.europa.eu/en/publications-data/download-todays-data-geographic-distribution-covid-19-cases-worldwide, and this shows that the ROI had 1,232 Covid-19 related deaths up to and including the same date. This puts ROI at 251 deaths per million and NI at 274 deaths per million on a like-for-like measurement on the same calendar day. It wasn't until May 6th or 7th that the ROI reached 274 deaths per million.
At the very least, it cannot be stated so confidently that the NI death rate is less than the ROI's, and I believe this statement at the start of the article should be removed and when discussing death comparisons with the ROI, that the NISRA data should be used as it is more complete than the Department of Health's data.

I've just filled in a few figures to get an idea if people think its useful. Ireland numbers are correct (from: https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/total-confirmed-cases-of-covid-19-per-million-people?year=2020-04-28). NI just a guess as cant find easy breakdown of cases per pop for UK regions. Can work it out if people thing it'd be useful? And do same for deaths per population too obv.

COVID-19 pandemic in the UK
editDia dhaoibh! I've been trying to show the editors of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom article how biased UK=England it is. COVID-19 is a health issue, which comes under the devolved governments and NOT under Boris Johnson. The article, in my view, contains disproportional coverage of England, is unbalanced and is an insult to the three smaller nations.
