editIs there a reason that this needs to be separate from CSX Transportation?
- I've requested that this be merged into the "History" section of CSX Transportation, since it seems to relate little more than a bit of corporate history. Mangoe 14:58, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
- They're two separate corporations. (This is the holding corp.) I'd say they should be separate MrHudson 08:26, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
I don't see any reason to keep it as a separate article either. For all intents and purposes, CSX Transportation is CSX Corporation. This entry just provides a little more detail into the parent company and briefly mentions a few of their other ventures, all of which have to do with transportation anyway.--Macmedic892 15:22, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
- I am also in favor of merging the articles, since CSX behaves more like a corporation than a railroad. The company would spin off it's rail holdings in an instant if given the chance.-- MakeChooChooGoNow 16:24, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
CSX Corporation was formed in 1980, but there was no CSX Transportation until 1986. For six years, CSX Corporation was a holding company that owned several railroad companies. --NE2 04:36, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Litigation on derivatives
editIn the year now drawing to a close, CSX Corp. has been involved in some ground-breakinbg litigation over financial derivatives and their significance in re: proxy contests and the securities regulatory system. Here's one source for that statement: http://www.financialweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080921/REG/309229998/1015/TOC
Anyway, I think there should definitely be a discussion of that litigation and its significance here, ans that this in itself is a good reason to keep this article separate from the article about the railroad. The corporation as a financial entity is one subject, its operations are another. --Christofurio (talk) 16:41, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
