Stage 13 at 2007 Tour
editI have undone the changes some anonymous person made to my contribution. I don't see why it shouldn't be mentioned that Cadel Evans actually won a stage in this Tour? Because I do understand the change that person made about the "prestigious" Tour de Romandie (which is indeed not so prestigious after all), I saved that change. --Selach 13:44, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- The ASO/Tour de France have not announced Evans as the winner of the 13th stage, even though Vinokourov tested positive. Until they do, he 'came second'. kju 15:08, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- Vinokourov has not yet been found guilt of doping. Until he is and is stripped of the win, it is "his". It is not correct to say Evans won the stage—yet. SeveroTC 21:39, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Wrong info about Evans supposedly having assumed 2007 victory
editAt the end of the page, in Sporting positions one can read: "(assumed) Winner of the Tour de France 2007", what contradicts with the intro text "In 2007 Evans finished second in the Tour de France". Aiarakoa (talk) 18:12, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
Tour of Austria
editAccording to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%96sterreich_Rundfahrt Cadel Evans was winner in 2001 and 2004, but here only his 2004 victory is mentioned. I fixed the info in his palmares, but the maintainers of this article should also fix the wording elsewhere in this article to reflect his two victories in Tour of Austria, not one. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.10.89.3 (talk) 14:02, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
Relationship with the media
editGiven Evan's growing noteriety following his attitude towards the media at the 2008 TdF, and actions including headbutting a TV camera, does this not deserve a section? I imagine it would be fairly easy to find references and quotes for this to remain neutral.Thaf (talk) 15:20, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
Is this even relevant? Surely most cyclists/celebrities would have confrontations with the media/papparazi and this would be claimed to be gossip wouldn't it? pete (talk) 07:11, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:UCI Pro Tour.svg
editThe image Image:UCI Pro Tour.svg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.

World Champion
editSomeone get this man a picture with his stripes on! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Memorygap (talk • contribs) 23:51, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
This is something that should be done sooner rather than later. His year is moving around fast, and soon his strips may be gone. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thommo85 (talk • contribs) 12:07, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Lotto Teamname
editIn the right section, the teamname for the Lotto-Crew is called Davitamon-Lotto. In Cadels last year with this crew, the team was called Silence-Lotto. I asume that the last team name should be mentioned.
This for both years, 2004 Team Telekom (called Team T-Mobile in 2004) and 2009 Davitamon-Lotto.

Not won Tour yet
editThis may seem a little petty, but he has not won the Tour de France until he crosses the finish line in Paris tomorrow. Miguel Indurain famously said that he hadn't won the Tour until Champs Elysées, because as he said "You never know if you hit a black cat crossing the road right in front of you". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.178.188.219 (talk) 16:02, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Tour de France Win
editOn July 23, 2011, Evans won the Tour de France ahead of Andy Schleck and Frank Schleck.

- Not done: From what I can tell, at least by looking at all the other pages here there is still 1 stage left to finish before this becomes official. Jnorton7558 (talk) 02:07, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
2011
editQuote: "Evans finished third on stage one of the Tour, and won stage 4, the second Tour de France stage win of his career."
Evans finished second on stage one. Hushovd finished third. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Martin.kviteberg (talk • contribs) 11:41, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
Pronunciation
editMaybe the article should say how he pronounces "Cadel". —JerryFriedman (Talk) 05:07, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. I didn't know about the Name Engine. —JerryFriedman (Talk) 04:44, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
- Neither did I -- Google was my friend. It seems to work on (anonymous?) submissions, so I wouldn't place too much faith in it though. No such user (talk) 11:26, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
Protection
editIn my opinion, there's enough vandalism to warrant semi-protection for a week, until the TDF is, well, forgotten. If an admin disagrees, they are free to overrule me, since it's a borderline case. Drmies (talk) 16:17, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
- Good call. Thanks Drmies, Jenks24 (talk) 16:26, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
- It bothers me. I hate protecting articles, but the guy worked his butt off in the hardest race in the world, and then his bio gets s**t on by a bunch of school kids. Pardon my French--and I'm not even an Evans fan. Jenks, thanks for helping with keeping it clean. Drmies (talk) 16:29, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
Two non-Europeans won the Tour?
editSo we are now in damnatio memoriae mode bordering on the Orwellian, pretending that only the best prosecuted/persecuted are guilty and the caught never existed? I don't think the overall integrity of cycling since the invention of EPO really deserves that kind of respect. Lance Armstrong and Floyd Landis won the tour, best cheaters among cheaters then were subsequently disqualified, Armstong very long after the fact. Four non-Europeans have won the tour on the terms that it is actually contested.Jszigeti (talk) 17:00, 14 July 2015 (UTC)
