Why is it necessary to describe all the pictures as cairn terriers relaxing or enjoying the sun- A. it's obvious and B. not relevant. 71.94.157.172 (talk) 23:03, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Pure black, black and tan, and white are not permitted. " - is this true of the AKC? From the standard it seems any colour other than white is OK in the US [1]. All other standards are clear on this -- sannse (talk) 12:05, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)

You are correct about the US/AKC standard. It is the FCI standard (Word doc) that excludes those colors. With a change in the Candadian standard due in 2006 to reference the FCI (previously it referenced the US standard), the US will be the only country using the AKC standard. A comparison of the UK (FCI) and US (AKC) standards.

There is a section that uses the term "irresponsible breeding". Is this a real term, or is this a value judgement? If it's a value judgement, it seems inappropriate. --JensWilkinson 06:05, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've tracked down a photo from flickr and uploaded it here. The full-res is a little blurry, but should be fine for the article. -ΖαππερΝαππερ BabelAlexandria 07:36, 4 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

This article is a mess...

edit

I'm going to do a series of edits to the article to try to tidy it up as its quite a pigsty. Miyagawa (talk) 17:48, 12 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

The first sentence under "Temperament" ends "- a delicate lapdog". Surely this is not right - is it vandalism? Queryit (talk) 00:12, 24 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

I think the dog Walter Sobchak brings bowling in "The Big Lebowski" and (erroneously identifies as a 'Pomeranian' ) is a Yorkshire Terrier and not a Cairn ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by ClausVind (talkcontribs) 14:44, 28 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Why on earth would dogs be ratting in cairns? This is an unlikely rationalisation of the name

edit

Well, one can wonder of course, but it is sourced and every dog book say the same thing. It can't be helped. Added both reference and video on naming. Hafspajen (talk) 10:51, 19 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Well, at least its referenced now. Even if it is, in my opinion, utter bollocks. Leithp 13:38, 19 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yes, it does sounds weird, of course.   Hafspajen (talk) 13:45, 19 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
