Hi Sportzeditz. I will review this within a week. -Riley1012 (talk) 20:55, 12 August 2023 (UTC)

Criteria: 1a. prose ( ) 1b. MoS ( ) 2a. ref layout ( ) 2b. cites WP:RS ( ) 2c. no WP:OR ( ) 2d. no WP:CV ( )

Note: this represents where the article stands relative to the Good Article criteria. Criteria marked   are unassessed

1. Well-written
The article complies with MoS. The prose overall is excellent. Here are a few grammar corrections:

  • In the "High school career" section, the mentions of first-team and second-team selections need to be hyphenated (first-team instead of first team), as they are in the "College career" section.
  • "...Clark started on the school's varsity soccer team, but focused on basketball for her final two years." The comma after team either needs to be removed, or you need to add "she" after the word "but"
  • "...the first Division I men's or women's player to record consecutive triple-doubles with at least 30 points, and the first women's player..." The comma before "and" should be removed.
  • "...and was named tournament most outstanding player (MOP)..." This should be reworded to either "the tournament's most outstanding player" or "the most outstanding player of the tournament"
  • "...the AP preseason All-America team, and was named Big Ten preseason player of the year..." The comma should either be removed, or the work "she" should be added after "and"
  • "Entering her junior season at Iowa, Clark signed a deal with Nike." Add another word before entering like "when" or "while" to make the phrasing less awkward.

3. Broad
The article is broad in its coverage

4. Neutral
The article is neutral. The discussion of the Angel Reese gesture is particularly well done in terms of neutrality considering the controversy.

5. Stable
This article is stable day-to-day

6. Illustrated
The four images in the article are free and have relevant captions

2. Verifiable
Earwig Copyvio check is fine.

  • "Listed at 6 feet 0 inches (1.83 m), Clark plays point guard and has great size for her position." Is there a source for her height? Also it would be helpful to have more context/elaboration on what "great size for her position" means.

I will take a closer look at the sources and finish criteria #2 later. -Riley1012 (talk) 21:32, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

@Riley1012: I have addressed all of the issues so far. Sportzeditz (talk) 01:11, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
Thanks Sportzeditz. Here's the rest of the review: Ref layout is good. No copyright issues found in source check. No original research. The only issue I found was that reference 1 was a dead URL, but I fixed that. This article is ready to be promoted to GA. -Riley1012 (talk) 14:39, 18 August 2023 (UTC)

Maravich Apologetics

I feel like the second paragraph of the introduction is odd in this context. This article is about Caitlin Clark's career, not how Pete Maravich's career stats could have been different in the modern NCAA.

I propose this paragraph either be moved to Pete Maravich, or at the very least placed into a subsection below the Career Statistics section, something like "Comparisons with Pete Maravich". 38.43.21.137 (talk) 13:20, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

You can't compare Pete Maravich and Caitlin Ckark. Clark has played one more season (4) than Maravich'3 (Freshmen were not eligible in Maravich's era. Clark also has a career 506 3 PT shots, Maravich has 0; as the 3 PT shot was not around. Subtracting 506 extra pts for the three PT shots and one entire season; Ms. Clark is around 1300 pts shy of "Pistol" Pete. While her accomplishment is impressive; when all factors are considered; it is in fact an Asterisk worthy record. You cannot compare apples to oranges. 2600:1700:80D8:A0:AD2C:AE37:CA38:EBBA (talk) 19:24, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

‎ 69.5.134.33 and reverts on Caitlin Clark

This IP has a vandalism block. It's been reverting multiple edits on Caitlin Clark from me and others; always with no explanation and only "Tags: Manual revert references removed Visual edit Mobile edit Mobile web edit" in the edit summary. Seems like some sort of vandalism and/or protecting a certain point of view to me as my last edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Caitlin_Clark&diff=1212425644&oldid=1212420168 was perfectly on point and had valid refs. 1) what can be done about this IP editor and 2) what if anything was wrong with my last post to Clark's article? Thanks. MisawaSakura (talk) 15:20, 10 March 2024 (UTC)

I have to agree. This IP is protecting their own point of view and clearly with no explanations. I also see no one else has commented nor attempted to stop this clear inequity. This is why I rarely edit wiki.57.140.16.12 (talk) 13:04, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
    • @ThaddeusSholto: @69.5.134.33: @Blade772009: @HJ Mitchell: We all know 69.5.134.33 reverts without explanation and edits wars. Not just my edits but other edits on this page too. See page history. See March 2024 entries on his talk page and the 1 week block for reverting ThaddeusSholto multiple times. The block was made by HJ Mitchell. Then out of nowhere Blade772009 comes by and his VERY FIRST and ONLY edit is to do the same revert to Caitlin's Clark article that 69.5.134.33 has been doing to my and ThaddeusSholto's edits. VERY SUSPICIOUS. I am not sure what can be done about this so I'm reporting it here. MisawaSakura (talk) 14:02, 17 March 2024 (UTC)

Degree- studies

What is Iowa's Caitlin Clark studying in college? 2603:300F:CFD:4100:BC32:68CD:6C34:338E (talk) 22:59, 7 April 2024 (UTC)

Add SNL Appearance

Add Clark's SNL appearance to "In Popular Culture":

On April 13th, 2024, Clark appeared on Saturday Night Live, as part of the Weekend Update segment. She criticized Michael Che's previous jokes about women's basketball and 'wrote' new jokes for him to read out. She also paid tribute to previous women's basketball stars who paved her path, including Dawn Staley and Maya Moore. [1] Connie72 (talk) 16:24, 14 April 2024 (UTC)

Youth FIBA statistics?

Questioning whether the addition of Clark's youth FIBA stats met the threshold to include or if this would be considered along the lines of fancruft. These stats are referenced/cited in the "Junior national team" section of Clark's page. Would the addition of a table (something like the below) to "Career statistics" section be redundant? I'm leaning towards yes (to redunancy), but thought I'd ask!

McDonald's All-American Game

The awards section makes no note that the McDonald's All-American game that she was on the roster for never occurred, and the article it links to makes no mention of Caitlin Clark. Perhaps it should instead link to 2020 McDonald's All-American Girls Game, but to be honest, I don't know how to change it because I don't understand infoboxes. "Greatest player"

I totally agree with it saying in the lead that she is regarded as the greatest basketball player, etc, especially with all the sources. But please clarify that she is the greatest player in COLLEGE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL, to be clear and specific. This is extremely important to be clear to international readers who were confused about this. 68.234.168.28 (talk) 23:29, 7 April 2024 (UTC)

NOT DONE. Reliable sources have referred to her as one of the greatest players of all time. We go by what reliable sources say, not jealous misogynists. 174.20.149.69 (talk) 15:47, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
I agree with the decision, but please be less rude to fellow Wikipedians in the future, even if you do not believe their suggestions to be in good faith. With Love from Cassie Schebel (talk) 13:19, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
NOT DONE. Defending misogynistic vandalism is against WP guidelines. A strike has been issued against your account. Consider this your last warning before the matter is escalated. 174.20.149.69 (talk) 03:08, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

The media is in meltdown over Caitlin Clark

Early Life

Due to the large amount of online discussion about Caitlin's gender at birth, I think it would be beneficial to add the following to the "Early Life" section, confirming that Caitlin was born a female: The birth announcement for a daughter born the previous Tuesday (22 January 2002) to Anne Nizzi-Clark and Brent Clark of Des Moines was published in The Des Moines Register on Tuesday, 29 January, 2002 on page 58. Misspelling

I am not sure how to notify of editing but under personal life when it talks about Clark being Catholic, it says her brother Blake reminds or urges sister “Caitlyn” to attend mass, etc.

Her name is spelled incorrectly. It caught my eye, though because the entire entry only refers to her as “Clark” after the opening stats. Her first and last name also appear under one image. So for it to say that brother Blake reminds “Caitlyn” causes it to stick out because of the misspelling and because it didn’t simply say “her” or “Clark” as it does throughout the entry.

The reason I came to read about her is because I saw Bill Maher and guests commenting on how her teammates don’t seem to be helping her up and/or defending her against unsportsmanlike behavior. I was trying to gleen if that is true and if so, if it’s actually due to jealousy or if it’s regarding the idea that women seem to have a lack of loyalty when compared to men in the same situations. He said:

(2 days ago) ”Show host Bill Maher blasts women as "catty" as he calls out WNBA players for not standing up for Caitlin Clark who is getting hit from all angles. Maher said that women don't stand up for each other like men do.”

As a female, I’ve had this discussion before and believe it to be true. There may be one other edit. The new Nike campaign has the first two letters capitalized: “IT”.

Thank you and my apologies if I’ve not presented this through proper means.

Specify that she Caitlin is the all time points leader in NCAA Women's Division 1. The way it is currently written is factually incorrect. Pete Marovich is the ncaa division 1 leader, not Caitlin. 2601:601:A400:48C0:9A63:37E4:690C:8002 (talk) 07:37, 24 June 2024 (UTC)

WNBA Picture

Could anyone find a usable WNBA picture to use for Caitlin’s Header picture yet? The other top rookies have one now, I think Caitlin needs one now too. DEverything03 (talk) 04:31, 26 June 2024 (UTC)

On July 6th, 2024, Clark recorded her first triple-double in the WNBA and the first triple-double in WNBA rookie history. With 19 points, 13 assists, and 12 rebounds, Clark helped her team score a win over the #1 New York Liberty. 72.131.83.91 (talk) 19:45, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
