I removed a section on the decision behind the character's gender. It feels like a jab against Rey from the sequel trilogy, and it's attributed to Bounding into Comics, a known disinfo site with ties to Comicsgate. If there's no better source on this information, it's better to just omit it entirely. 46.97.170.112 (talk) 10:06, 2 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
You're right in that it isn't a reliable source, but if we're using it for context and it was something the director did say then it's irrelevant as to whether the article is using it as a jab (which I can't personally see myself). Fortunately while there are not only better sources reporting on the same information, some also do reference the complaints from those criticizing Cal for being generic/white. It takes little time to look for a better source, and even if you have no luck with this the prose should only be removed as a last resort. Wikibenboy94 (talk) 14:53, 4 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
It is most definitely a jab. The site is used exclusively by Comicsgate adjacent individuals, as a counternarrative to the general consensus of mainstream reliable sources. Also, if we're going to include a reliable source, shouldn't the criticism that the character is a generic white male (something that mainstream game developers seem to treat as the default). More focus should be given to that as opposed to the reactionary "girls had their turn with Rey, now it's boys' turn again" narrative pushed by a fringe source. 46.97.170.112 (talk) 10:08, 5 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
