Anton "Doc" Tjader
editFascinating! Never heard this bit of lore before.
I edited the section it was added in to better incorporate it. I feel Cal's parents performing history should be stressed up-front, as it plays a large role in his development.

This factoid has bugged me for far too long, and I did some research on it. I discovered Dr. Tjader was mentioned in Early Sketches and Tales, not Roughing It, and that he was Cal's grandfather, not great-grandfather.
I've updated the page to reflect this new information and to list sources.
Final date
editI've seen some questions about Cal's date of death on other sites (including the German version of Wikipedia). I think I went with one source (which said May 4) whereas the majority of other sources declare the next day (May 5). This may have something to do with Manila being on the other side of the International Date Line; I can't be sure.
Either way, I've updated the article to reflect the majority opinion.
Tjäder
editJust thought I'd mention that the family name is Swedish for capercaillie, the bird. (Hopefully wiki won't get messed up by the umlaut.) Idontcareanymore (talk) 02:36, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
