The name Calcot
editAnyone know where the name came from? Something Cottage, I assume, like North Cottage (Norcot) and South Cottage (Southcote). Pollythewasp (talk) 15:22, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
Is Calcot even a village?
editThe article says "now a suburb of Reading"- should the intro not describe it as a suburb of Reading rather than as a village? Isaachhh (talk) 18:50, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- It's not within the Borough of Reading. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 11:36, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Murgatroyd49
- Neither is Lower Earley, yet the page for it still calls it a suburb of Reading. Isaachhh (talk) 15:50, 7 March 2024 (UTC)

- This isn't a deletion discussion. I think it's perfectly reasonable to use examples of other articles about similar things to suggest changing the language of an article. Isaachhh (talk) 16:53, 8 March 2024 (UTC)
- Calcot was (is) a village in its own right before being swallowed up by Reading whereas Lower Early is a recently built suburb of Earley and intended as such. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 17:12, 8 March 2024 (UTC)
