Certifier in Mexico?

edit

I just got a cucumber with a sticker reading "Certified Organic Par C.C.O.F. / AL032 ORGANICS / 94062 / PRODUCE OF MEXICO." Does this mean that CCOF does organic inspections/certifications in Mexico as well as the United States? Badagnani 06:31, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

From CCOF

Yes, CCOF certifies in Mexico as well as the United States and other countries in the Western Hemipshere. For more information, please contact marketing@ccof.org. 71.204.132.192 (talk) 20:01, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Peggy Miars, CCOF Executive DirectorReply

If you have information, it would probably be best if you went ahead and added it. I couldn't find this information easily on the Internet, and I think it's important. Badagnani (talk) 20:26, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
What are the other countries? Is this on the CCOF website? Badagnani (talk) 18:36, 9 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Please, Peggy, the wikipedia talk page is NOT the place to advertise your company. It is a place to discuss the content of the article.--345Kai (talk) 02:18, 11 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
She was answering a question from a reader above. I think that's perfectly reasonable. -- phoebe / (talk to me) 19:23, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

This is concerning. This article reads like something written straight from an executive of CCOF. Viewing the editing history shows an account devoted to editing this page and, of course, the above comment admits a marketing executive of CCOF has been on this page. They have come under criticism before, none of which is present in the article, and having execs come into Wikipedia to do editing is sketchy. --Bftmc (talk) 03:30, 10 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

I just removed the offending material, which doesn't leave much. This article needs a total rewrite, unfortunately, I'm not an expert.--345Kai (talk) 02:16, 11 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
Well, I'm going to remove even more offending material. The long list of numbers of assets, customers, etc, does nothing but make CCOF look like a large, powerful and influential organization with tentacles reaching out into much of the Western Hemisphere, without giving any reliable and verifiable and neutral sources for the numbers.
All that will be left then will be a brief description of what the company does and the year it was founded. Even that information is unsourced, but it is vague enough not to aggrandize the organization unduly while still giving interested readers some information about what it does.
I think it's safe to remove the {{POV}} tag now, so I'm going to do that too.--Jim10701 (talk) 03:56, 29 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
I think that these edits may have gone overboard... there was quite a bit of useful info (like which countries they do certification in) that also got cut. They are in fact one of the larger organic certifiers around; noting this doesn't equal aggrandizement. I'll see if I can dig up some 3rd party sources. -- phoebe / (talk to me) 19:28, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
