Dead or Alive?
editPlease answer the question. Replay7 18:32, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- CNN and Google news don't have anything.
- Newsfromme says he's dead.
- Dead or Alive Info.com says that it's rumoured.
- Eye of Polyphemus cites the Newsfromme site.
- Harris Online, another blog, also is citing the Newsfromme blog.
- Dismas|(talk) 18:40, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- If something's posted on Mark Evanier's newsfromme.com, it's more than likely true. The man is an industry veteran with contacts everywhere, and has frequently posted obituaries and death notices for comics and TV related personalities before it was reported in the mainstream press. Evanier is a credible source, despite what a recent new editor claimed. TheRealFennShysa 18:44, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- I am more concerned that we get it right, rather than quick. Newsfromme is a blog, apparently, and per WP:RS, blogs are not to be considered reliable sources. It should hit the MSM soon, and if it does, we'll include that info. --rogerd 19:03, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- It's now in the L.A. Times - [1] --68.72.70.2 21:48, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. Death info has been restored, and the article has been unprotected. --rogerd 21:59, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Star Trek character?
editWasn't Calvert Deforest in Star Trek playing "Bones"?
- No, you're thinking of DeForest Kelley. Natalie 03:10, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Who, coincidentally, is also dead. Dismas|(talk) 04:25, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- He's dead, Jim......I'm a doctor, not a wikipedia editor!Dereks1x 18:45, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- IMDB says he and DeForest Kelley were cousins. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.87.248.140 (talk) 01:21, 27 March 2007 (UTC).
- I just saw the DeForest Kelley thing in this article and I'm calling BS. It is unsourced in the article and IMDB trivia is notoriously unreliable. In the DeForest Kelley article it says he is named after Lee Deforest who may well be a relation to Calvert. Unless a reliable source appears I'll probably remove that information from the article soon. Mantisia (talk) 01:49, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
Filmography
editThis article has really grown since before this poor man's death. However, there used to be a filmography list, which has been deleted. That's a good thing to put back. If there is legimate discussion on why it shouldn't be there, please say something. I'll refrain from putting it back to allow discussion.Dereks1x 18:45, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- done --rogerd 18:54, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
"King of the Z's" seems to have been deleted. Can we bring it back? It's what got him on Letterman. There was a link to a citation, so I'm not sure why it was removed. All it says is those edits were a clean-up. ???

Call collect
editHe was in many comercials for 1-800-CALL-COLLECT in the mid to late 90s.
- It's 1-800-COLLECT
Full name?
editAs he was born to Calvert DeForest, should his full name end in Junior or Jr.? - LafinJack (talk) 00:36, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Since he and his father had different middle names, there is no distinction needed.-63.155.210.119 (talk) 03:46, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
Midnight Cowboy
editI'm pretty sure that one of the faces in one of the Times Square scenes in Midnight Cowboy is Calvert DeForest. It's possible, right? Any confirmation? Speck22 (talk) 17:53, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
Cousins
editIf the relationship of Bebe Daniels to both Calvert DeForest and Lee DeForest is known, I would think that there would be little question about the relationship between Calvert and Lee. Given the "DeForest" name it would seem that they are all from the same branch of the same family.PurpleChez (talk) 21:53, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
The article says at one point grand nephew of Lee DeForest, but elsewhere that his father and Lee DeForest were cousins. This latter statement would make Calvert the first cousin once removed to Lee, not grand nephew. The confusion should be cleared up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:7000:6A01:AD31:C99F:B2F1:25BC:A00D (talk) 21:14, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
I've removed the wording about the relationship Lee De Forest. If anyone can show exactly how they're related, please do, Lee's ancestors go back to New York in the 1700s at least, and Calvert's go back to Wisconsin in the early 1800s. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stembark (talk • contribs) 01:21, 4 August 2024 (UTC)
