Logo comment 1
editSomeone needs to attach a school logo to the page. I will update the history of the school in the next 12 hours. Any help is much appreciated. 203.51.155.82 00:52, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
History comment
editOkay, I have now updated the history of the school. Anyone out there who is able to update a logo and add other information, much appreciated. 203.51.155.82 08:59, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
Logo comment 2
editI'm having some problems centering the school logo at the top of the page in the info box. I also replaced what was Trinity Grammar's logo, to the Camberwell Grammar logo. They do look similar, though.Flydelta 07:14, 23 November 2005 (UTC)
- Looks ok to me. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 08:14, 23 November 2005 (UTC)
Changes
editGuys,
I'm somewhat worried by the changes made by the User:Hardwood 14:17, 24 November 2005
There are two main things that I'm worried about, the removal of the text detailing changes made by Dr. Hicks and the section detailing the changes in 2005 (removal of H & J Block).
Now, I may be missing something here, but these two sections are quite accurate, and I would have thought it would make sense to include in the article.
Being a student at the school (well, I was until three weeks ago, when I graduated), I am quite sure of the validity of the facts.
I'm unsure of the reason it was deleted, was it because it looked like the facts were inaccurate, or something else? User:Hardwood just marked the edit as "deleted a lot of nonsense", which I guess could mean any number of things...

As far as I can see most of the removed material is POV or unverifiable. Such as "As a result of this he was eager to see the end result of the HR McDonald Building before leaving the school. This would allow him to take credit for it." However, using what was deleted I've restored some of it but without the POV (I hope).
So if you graduated 3 weeks ago what are FACE, Th. L., A.K., G.C.M.G.M. MACE, and did Major-General Francis Plumly Derham really have VD? CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 07:48, 25 November 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply CambridgeBayWeather (Talk). You will notice that from my above comment, I did not say that I thought that all the edits from 14:17, 24 November 2005 should be reversed. I made mention of two specific edits (out of the 5 done) that I thought should be reversed. I 100% agree with the removal of the POV thing about Mr. Black - as such, you will notice I did not mention it above.
I have no idea what Th. L., A.K., G.C.M.G.M. MACE are (I'm going to guess Uni degrees or other such fun stuff, but, as you may have noticed, this is a High School - not a Uni, they don't teach us that joy), nor if Major-General Francis Plumly Derham really had VD. Again, you will notice from my above post - I am only claiming the validity of the two paragraphs that where removed, the one about Dr. Hick's changes, and the one detailing building work in 2005. Those two small paragraphs only.
All the other edits that had text removed, I have no problem with.
Copyvio content
editI just reverted to the last version before 203.51.155.82 (talk • contribs) added the "History" section to the page. The whole section was a copyvio from the school's diary (not available online, but since I was a student there I have one). If someone can rewrite the section so that it's not a copyvio, that would be great, I might have time to do it tomorrow. --bainer (talk) 05:01, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
This is my old school
editI noticed this on Vfd. This was my old school when I was a little tucker. Was the biggest of the 12 schools I went to as a kid. Was massively well known. Zordrac 19:42, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
Religion
editMaybe the same, but the school is actually know as a Church of England school
History
editi put in a few paragraphs from my school diary into the page but it has been deleted. i guess the mediocrity of the history section can be ignored, but i though it would be good to have the history as it actually was. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by The Gazman (talk • contribs) .
- Yes, I removed it when I recognised it as copied from the diary. You need to rework or summarise the material (and preferably cite it too) rather than copying sections of material wholesale, which is not permitted. Someone did this before, perhaps it's time for me to rework the content. --bainer (talk) 13:27, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
- Seems like it has happened again. I will be deleting under WP:COPY and continuing to remove any material copied directly from the school diary. Thanks, --SteveTurner cont. 06:01, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
Prod
editThis article was proposed for deletion today. I removed the tag because Camberwell Boys is one of the more notable and prominent Melbourne schools, schools routinely pass AfD and the result of the last AfD was "speedy keep". The reason cited for the prod was:
- "This page will be prone to endless vandalism and ill mannered edits from students at the school and those not. The amount of vandalism that has occurred on this page is excessive and is not fruitful to Wikipedia or the school."
This is not a reason to delete an article. If it were we'd have no articles. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 07:25, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- I've corrected most of the vandalism. I'm a well mannered former student of the school who is happy to watch over the article. --bainer (talk) 14:02, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- You went to Camberwell Boys, Bainer? I went to Camberwell Girls. :) Sarah Ewart (Talk) 10:42, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
I've noticed quite a few names popping up on the List of Awardees recently, one of which I just removed. As there is no verifiable source for these Awardees, what is the point of listing them?Echno 09:45, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
C.G.S. History
editDoes anyone realise that the school commissioned a history of the school for its 100th Anniversary and sold as a book? It may provide a valuable insight into this article
- Obviously content could not be directly copied but it may be a valuable resource. --SteveTurner cont. 06:01, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
