Urgent verification needed

Could somebody please check the section "Cambodian riel 1953-1957", as there is probably some good input with some non-Wiki formatting there. Thanks George Adam Horváth (talk) 17:47, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Inflation

Something's not right with the stated inflation. First, how does inflation applied to a currency (and not an economy) make sense? Recent inflation figures for Cambodia are decidedly in the single digits. Second, the Cambodian riel is effectively tied to the US dollar and has been at almost exactly 4000 for the last decade. Maybe somebody more knowledgeable in these matters could fix it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.20.162.84 (talk) 22:35, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

Removed images in place of Unicode

So, there is a problem with many editors here on Wikipedia using images in place of Khmer text. Breaking news: there is Khmer support in Unicode now. Plkease don't undermine it's growth and usage by using images in place of it. Using images limits search results and having the Unicode symbols/text allows for readers to copy and paste these into search engines if they please. I left the images in the infobox as I understand not all readers may have Khmer fonts. And if you don't, well that's too bad. That's a limitation on your end that can be fixed if you are willing. There are freely available UNICODE fonts for Khmer available online. And all current operating systems have full Khmer Unicode support now, at least for viewing in browsers. Inspite of what I said, any editors that have the time may want to add the riel symbol in the 3 other styles used in Khmer orthography (see Khmer script article), although I don't think this is necessary as the differences are minimal for the letter used in the riel symbol. Had it used another character such as ក (ka) then it would definitely be suiting for illustrative purposes. --Dara (talk) 01:29, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

Gold

I found it hard to believe that most Cambodians prefered to use gold as a currency so I checked the reference which talks about there being a gold backed currency at one time which is not the same thing at all. I've therefore removed the gold reference in the opening paragraph. 86.31.80.33 (talk) 13:27, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

Images

I made some scans of the 100, 1000 and 5000 riel notes. I scanned them in the same resolution (300dpi) as the ones already on this page, and I would like to upload them. However, I am wondering whether it is against Wikimedia/Wikipedia rules or even against Cambodian law to publish images of current Cambodian currency in this relatively high resolution.

The National Bank of Cambodia shows only 200-pixel-wide images on their website (http://www.nbc.org.kh/english/nbc_gallery/banknotes_in_circulation.php). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dirk YUL (talkcontribs) 23:27, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

The Law on the Organization and Conduct of the National Bank of Cambodia states:
"Article 48. Any reproduction of notes, coins, checks, securities, or payment cards, whether denominated in riel kac or sen or in a foreign currency, and the creation of any objects that by their design imitate notes, coins, checks, securities or payment cards is forbidden without prior written authorisation from the Central Bank." (http://www.nbc.org.kh/english/legislation/law_on_organization_and_conduct_of_nbc.php)
So, we should probably reduce the size of the images and stamp them with the word "specimen" or "sample". Dirk YUL (talk) 23:47, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
