Campo Moro dams
editThis is a draft about the Campo Moro dams, which are two: the Alpe Gera dam and the Campo Moro dam. There is already a page on Wikipedia about one of the two dams (Alpe Gera dam) but it is short and not really detailed (it has been rated as Stub-class), so it would be reasonable to create another page to merge (Wikipedia:Merging) the existing one with it, in order to give a complete view of the hydroelectric structure.LIUCAnastasia4 (talk) 17:03, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
- This Talk post should be more prominent on the page, after the Educational notice. It should include the link to the relevant Wikipedia page at Alpe Gera Dam. Remove the personal tense. The existing article has been rated as Stub-class. See Wikipedia:Stub to assist in reconciling the issue. It is part of the Wiki Project Dams. This can be raised as a discusion topic on the Wiki Project Dams Talk Page: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Dams and on the Alpe Gera Dam Talk page: Talk:Alpe Gera Dam. Other editors may have useful input on how to reconcile the two pages. A clearer case can be made for the proposed new page, and shared via Talk. It is recommended to place relevant content on these Talk pages, to gain input on the two pages from other editors. It needs to be clear if the draft page is intended to replace the existing page, or compliment and link to it. Limelightangel (talk) 09:41, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
- I tried to follow the instructions, please tell me if the Talk post needs other changes LIUCAnastasia4 (talk) 16:30, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
Structure
editLead Section
editPages do not have a section header for 'Introduction'. It should be created first to avoid duplication of content and links later in the page. The summary introduction or 'lead section' is explained at: Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Lead_section Limelightangel (talk) 15:54, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
Content table
editPictures needed
editThere is the need for:
1. The dams
2. Lake Gera
3. The Fellaria Glacier
…feel free to propose more ideas! Start searching for them. Good place to start: Wikipedia commons.
Data
editBe sure the data is matching guys, for example the dam height. The Geda dam I looked on multiple sources and it states it as the second highest in Italy at 160.5 meters. Can we double check this? Because the description we wrote only says 96m.
I found on many different sources (as Sole 24 Ore, Montagna.TV, ProgettoDighe, etc...) that the Alpe Gera dam is 174m high, so I write it.--LIUCFederico4 (talk) 15:52, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
Referencing
editReferencing same source multiple times
edit- @LIUCEstelle4: Use Refname in the Cite template to avoid creating multiple references to the same source: "Often, you will want to use the same source more than once in an article to support multiple facts. In this case, you can click Named references in the toolbar, and select a previously added source to re-use." See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Introduction_to_referencing_with_Wiki_Markup/3

- I've fixed it LIUCEstelle4 (talk) 14:52, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
Infobox
editI created an infobox and started to add informations to it. Feel free to add any relevant information you find. LIUCAnastasia4 (talk) 12:59, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
Grammar & Style
edit- 'by a gallery of 570 meters long.'
- check conventions on power units e.g. kwh a year, Kw output
- 'which can offer the annual needs of'

- I made the changes necessary. LIUCEstelle4 (talk) 14:34, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
Excursion itinerary
editI was thinking for a section about itinerary, because this aerea is well known for it. Tell me what do you think about LIUCLéa4 (talk) 11:05, 25 November 2023 (UTC)
- 'Excusion Itinerary' is a poor title. 'Recreational activities' may be better. The Cycling the Dams content could then be moved from History to this section. Limelightangel (talk) 09:57, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
- I made the changes necessary LIUCLéa4 (talk) 10:02, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
Talk page style
edit- Note the guidelines on Talk page use, including style, spelling, structuring the discusions and signing all posts:Help:Talk_pages. Avoid the personal tense where possible ('I', 'we', etc.) and inappropriate language ('guys'). Talk is visible to other editors, so it needs to be clear who is saying what, and 'we' will mean nothing to them. To sign posts you can use the 1 click option below the editor space, or simply add the 4 '~' symbols manually. You can edit Talk pages to correct your content.Limelightangel (talk) 09:07, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
- 'Edits by User:78.134.77.202 where mine, sorry for that.' is inappropriate Talk page content, irrelevant to the sction, poor style and meaningless with no signature. Delete the comment added to the educational notice post.

- 2 unsigned talk page posts
Grammar & Style
edit- check conventions for cubic meters and converting units of measurement. See Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Units_of_measurement
- consistency and correct conventions are required e.g. '8 000 meters'; 'asl' vs.'above sea level'
- check conventions for ' " ' punctuation for ' ”Alpe Gera” and ”Campo Moro” '
- style: 'a valley home to'; 'result in making'; etc.
- 2 incomplete sentences
- redundant/incorrect language: 'while'; 'although'; 'nearby'; partly home'; 'runs an average descent'; etc.
- grammar: 'mastiffs'
- section on Fellaria Glacier needs relating to the topic
- page needs better structure
- subsection on Lake Gera describes the dam, not the lake, and several sub-sections in Geography do not relate to geography
Limelightangel (talk) 09:22, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
- I corrected the punctuation, the correct conventions for units of measurements, the grammar of 'massifs' and the section on Fellaria glacier.LIUCEstelle4 (talk) 15:01, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
- I corrected the Lake Gera geography. LIUCLéa4 (talk) 16:32, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
History- The Roman Empire in Valmalenco
editIs the subsection of History "the The Roman Empire in Valmalenco" is really relevant for a wikipedia page concerning Campo Morro damn? Is it related to the dam? I think it is more related to the Valmenco region LIUCLéa4 (talk) 15:18, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
- It is completely irrelevant to this page topic and should be removed. Limelightangel (talk) 16:58, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
Review 4/12/23
edit- Images: the current 3 images are irrelevant to the page topic and should be removed. The page needs relevant and acceptable images on the actual topic, not neighbouring areas, including a map and images of the actual dams.
- The Roman Empire in Valmalenco section is irrelevant to this page topic and should be removed or moved to the relevant page for it. The following text should be removed:
"Valmalenco is referred to as being rich territory, both in terms of Economic wealth and natural resources. During it's history, civilisations such as: Pre-historic humans, Roman Empire and Italian vassals (Capitanei). Developed strategically the valley, attributing worth to it's advantageous geographical position and predispositions. The Roman Empire in Valmalenco
In the year 250 a.C., the first mountain pass to connect Valmalenco with Raetia (or Rhaetia), a province in the Roman Empire, now modern Engadin. Proving to be a strategic advantage for the Northern-Italian Roman colonies which were now able to provide a direct transportation of goods, labor and military regimes between the regions, without the need to circumvent the Bernina mountain range. Today, this is known as Muretto Pass.[9] Muretto-Pass The exploit of its primary resources
The Muretto Pass was closed centuries later, between the 18th century(XVIII) and 19th century(XIX). Although the local economy suffered major hits, this proved to be crucial in the development of the area. Noticeably visible improvements included tourism and mineral extraction (mining). "
- the page needs the addition of correct See Also, External links and Categories. See:
- check conventions on all dates, numbers and distances, and make them consistent e.g. '1.800.000 m³ of concrete.'; 'an altitude of 2125 meters.'; '3500 meters above sea level.'; '2,051 above the sea'; '2000 meters a.s.l'; '2,000 meters above sea level'; 'a 570 meter tunnel.'; '8 000 meter tunnel.'; 'altitude 1,000 metres'; 'at 1000m altitude.'; '4049 m altitude'; '2021 m'; '33 million kwh'; '190.7 MW.'; etc. See: Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Dates_and_numbers#Numbers
- style: 'The western side boasts'; 'In contrast,'; 'towering at a height'; 'nestled at'; 'thus'; 'a valley home to the Bernina group';'partly home to '; 'To this day,'; 'In the distance, the prominent Alpe Gera dam becomes visible, offering the option to venture there to appreciate'; 'elevated mountain views adorned with'; 'showcasing the varied landscapes'; '
- grammar: 'it traverses an average descent '; 'and most recognised nearby.'; 'The Fellaria Glacier resides on'; 'Together with masiffs';'The campo moro barrier '; 'was realised between'; 'The Campo moro power station'; 'The Campo Moro dam was realised between 1956 and 1958, it’s the wall constructed at the highest altitude at 2000 meters a.s.l., just a year later, in 1965, the central station was built within an artificial cave, connected to the outside through a 570 meter tunnel.'; 'to its region. Representing 17% of the regional supply. ' (and missing sources); 'The 'Alfredo Pizzoli' hydroelectric plant also called Lanzada power station'; 'after a jump of 1000 meters'; 'its large number of possible hikes: '; 'The ascendance of the Piz Bernina summit '; 'The hike begins from the Compo Moro dams that are accessible by car.'; 'The one leading to Campo Franscia. '; 'The subsequent segment experiences an increase in gradients,'; 'brief tunnels that guide to the parking areas';
- consider incorporating conversion of units of measurement, including distance, heights and temperatures e.g. '32 meters in height and spanning 150 meters in length'. See: Help:Convert
- structure: consider moving the first paragraph of the Geography section to a Section on Location and placing this above Features. Geography could be retained but may be beeter as Topography/Catchment Area, or similar.
- duplicate links out e.g. Valmalenco (including in See Also); gravity dam; hydroelectricity; 'Sondrio'; 'Lanzada'; 'Enel'; etc.
- overlinking: '20th centrury'; etc.
- structure: needs more clearly differentiated sections and sub-sections to avoid duplication and overlap. Locate content uniquely in clearly defined sections. Duplicate content in different sections e.g. 'in 1965, the central station was built within an artificial cave, connected to the outside through a 570 meter tunnel.'; 'in 1965. It was built inside an artificial cave that is linked to the outside by a 570 meters long gallery. '; etc.
- structure: recreational activities needs sub-sections.
- it is unclear what 'The one leading to Campo Franscia.' actually is - a cycle road, road access or a walk.
- the lengthy 'itinerary from Campo Moro to Chiareggio' is largelly irrelevant to the topic and should be substantially reduced to the fact that the dams are a staerting point for this walk.
- the fact that the dams are accessible by car is not specific to walking routes and should be included under Location or as access for tourism/visiting in general.
Limelightangel (talk) 18:04, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
- I corrected the style and grammar, put the links outs in order and deleted the duplicates, added a section as suggested on 'Location' and added sub-sections in the recreational activities, LIUCEstelle4 (talk) 16:39, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
