- Done. Thanks for that fairly comprehensive list. The "various capitalizations, ICAO, IATA, and CALLSIGN designations" can be done by others. --candle•wicke 13:04, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

editHijackings are not automatically notable. This one involved no injuries, and was concluded without major incident. WP is Notnews. Any security issues should be able to be covered on the airport's page. I am preparing to take this to AFD, but it will take me a few hours to get to it. I won't be offended if someone beats me to it! :) - BillCJ (talk) 15:18, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
- If you got rid of this article, you'd still need to merge it to the airline and airport articles, which would result in needing to keep this article around for page history. 70.29.213.241 (talk) 15:33, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
- That's administrative - has nothing to do with AFD as such - the closing admin would determine that. - BillCJ (talk) 15:40, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I wondered how long it would take for someone to propose deleting it. As it involves a hijacking, it is notable enough to have an article according to WP:AIRCRASH criteria:-
- Air carrier criteria:
- It is the result of military or terrorist action, including hijacking, against a civilian target.
- It is the first, deadliest, or most significant accident for a particular airline or aircraft may also apply.
- Air carrier criteria:
- Mjroots (talk) 17:06, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
- So now a twenty-year-old man with apparent mental problems is a terrorist? Hmmm. - BillCJ (talk) 17:14, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
- A twenty-year-old man with a gun who holds crew hostage onboard an airliner certainly is! Mjroots (talk) 17:28, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
- The guideline states "military or terrorist action", which to me implies an organized action of some kind by a group, or at least someone acting with or for a terroist or military group. Anyway, I can see I'm peeing in the wind here. I'll wait see if I have any support from some other users for an AFD before I spend an hour trying to file it. Btw, if he's a terrorist, that needs to be stated in the article. - BillCJ (talk) 17:53, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
- Really? Is that not a bit POVish? He might not be a terrorist from every angle. --candle•wicke 18:01, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

- As the first ever hijacking on Jamaican soil, I'd say that notability is firmly established. Mjroots (talk) 08:44, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
(Unindent) If that's been confirmed, then I'd agree, as would the actions by the JDF, though it was originally reported aas being the JCF (police). But he's still not a terrorist, ar leaast in the nomative definition of the word. - BillCJ (talk)
