Criticism
editThis article needs a note about criticism. The most obvious example for me is that the idea that we need that much dairy in our diets is probably a sham encouraged by the dairy industry. Some dairy products are healthy and milks and yoghurts and cheeses aren't necessarily unhealthy, but it's generally accepted, I think, that North Americans eat way more cheese than they should. Also that same market is supersaturated with dairy, suggesting good reason to encourage its consumption.
If I really have to I can find some sources, but it's pretty obvious. I'd just like to see some mention of criticism made a little more explicit. --Jammoe (talk) 02:59, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, you do have to find sources. Preferably double-blind experimental studies. And make sure they properly address calcium & vitamin D requirements. 69.196.178.87 (talk) 00:27, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
I feel the current criticism section is unbalanced and biased with only a single argument cited, namely one from a minority POV. Would someone be able to fill in other POV? Glandrid (talk) 19:56, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
Vague amounts
editThe article refers to "servings" - this is too vague. Wouldnt it be better if the quantuty in grammes or ounces was given. 89.242.99.255 (talk) 16:33, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
- Have a look at serving size. The vagueness is due to the inescapable fact that a "serving" of bread is not the same size as a "serving" of milk or a "serving" of butter. WhatamIdoing (talk) 17:30, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
- The Canadian Food Guide defines it's own version of what constitutes a serving, for each group. See here: [1] 69.196.178.87 (talk) 00:27, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
