CHL Prospects

edit

I think we need the logo for the prospect game incorporated into the article, as well as a prospects game photo? Can anyone provide a game photo? I will get the logo. Flibirigit 06:29, 12 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Pro vs. Amateur

edit

Is the CHL pro or amateur, officially speaking? - Mayumashu 08:16, 1 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Neither, it's junior. :) I think they are payed a little bit, but I'm not too sure. -- Earl Andrew - talk 18:06, 1 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
Update, the article junior hockey confirms they are payed and are considered as pro by some organizations. -- Earl Andrew - talk 18:09, 1 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Markets

edit

I'm posting this section here from the main article:

The league is represented in many different markets across Canada, from large NHL markets such as Ottawa, Calgary, and Vancouver, to smaller markets with barely 10000 people, such as Owen Sound, Ontario and Swift Current, Saskatchewan. In almost all markets, teams are an important part of the community, especially in the smaller towns. This is reflected by the average CHL attendance, which has consistently been over 4000 during the 07/08 season. It should be noted that some of the highly attended teams like Quebec City can often draw crowds that are larger than those of struggling NHL teams. - User:99.229.18.58

There are some valid idea in here, but sources are need, and some is POV. Flibirigit (talk) 04:12, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

How come every time I make an edit to Wikipedia, it gets deleted? I think the paragraph I added contains a lot of factual information, and should be kept. The source page that can added is: http://www.mib.org/~lennier/hockey/att.cgi. BTW, CHL players are paid, but it's a very minimal amount.
One problem with your edits is that you don't provide sources up front, and second, your edits contain personal opinion. Here are some disputed facts:
  • "smaller markets with barely 10000 people" - Owen Sound has a population of 21,753. Swift Current has a population of 14,946.
  • "In almost all markets, teams are an important part of the community, especially in the smaller towns" - this might be true, but as it stands, is personal opinion which must be supported by facts
  • "It should be noted that some of the highly attended teams like Quebec City can often draw crowds that are larger than those of struggling NHL teams" - define "can often", and define "struggling NHL teams"
One would be better stating that CHL teams such as the Quebec Remparts, Calgary Hitmen, and Vancouver Giants, have a higher average attendance than NHL team X, with appropriate reference. Flibirigit (talk) 22:27, 6 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
