1) Please can we have the name of this article changed? I have been working on the French canals for 35 years and on this particular canal for 15 years and this is the first time I have ever seen or heard it called "The Canal of Burgundy". It is always known either by its French name or, when translated into English, as the "Burgundy Canal". Could one imagine an article entitled "The Broads of Norfolk"? (Even assuming such a title would be correctly understood by all)! Williamgeorgefraser 17:01, 2 November 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Williamgeorgefraser (talk • contribs)
I came to this talk page to put in exactly the same comment as above. All references point to the French spelling, and after all, it is a French canal. I moved it to the more useful name. GloverEpp (talk) 15:42, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
Canal
editA map of the route would greatly assist the reader to make sense of the eight descriptive paragraphs! There's a good schematic (along with a diagram of the elevation) at skutsjezonderzorg.blogspot.com ... unfortunately the schematic doesn't show some of the places mentioned in the text (e.g. Flogny-la-Chapelle, Charrey, Commissey, Lézinnes, Pacy-sur-Armançon, etc.), but it may be possible to add these to the diagram.
Another improvement may be to show the sections for each of the eight paragraphs; thus
- Migennes to St Florentin (19 km)
- St Florentin to Tonnerre (26 km)
- Tonnerre to Ancy-le-Franc (29 km)
- Ancy-le-Franc to Cry-sur-Armançon (distance?)
- Cry-sur-Armançon to Venarey-les-Laumes (distance?)
- Venarey-les-Laumes to Pouilly-en-Auxois (41 km)
- Pouilly-en-Auxois to Dijon (57 km)
- Dijon to Saint-Jean-de-Losne (29 km)

Lock identification
editThe second paragraph mentions the " ... the double-basin locks at ... Germigny (106-107Y) ... " — but the second paragraph under Canal mentions " ... the former double lock at Germigny (107-106Y) ... "; the Y has moved from 107 to 106. Does it matter?
