Cuban jurist remembered in DPRK - Prensa Latina (plenglish.com) says "When the Cuban woman passed away on July 8, 1994, President Kim Il Sung received the news with deep sorrow and said the DPRK was losing a dear friend whose last wish was that her ashes be scattered over the Korean mountains." Actually, that is a mistranslation of Recuerdan a jurista cubana en RPDC - Prensa Latina (prensa-latina.cu) which says "Cuando el presidente Kim Il Sung falleció (8 de julio de 1994), la cubana recibió la noticia con profundo dolor y dijo que el mandatario estaría siempre en el corazón de los pueblos progresistas del mundo." - in actuality "When President Kim Il Sung died (July 8, 1994), the Cuban woman received the news with deep pain and said that the president would always be in the hearts of the progressive people of the world." Kim Il Sung died on July 8, 1994, not Candelaria Rodríguez! Not clear where they got the mountains and ashes. --GRuban (talk) 23:23, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
GRuban Very cool that you found and noted that English discrepancy. I only found the Spanish version and knew from it that she had died, but not when. Since she received an award in 1998 and the source did not say posthumously awarded, we know her death likely occurred between 1998 and 2023, but I couldn't find anything more specific.
