- Hi Morgan695. The Japan Times article gives the figures you cite for lifetime use in Canada and the US, but gives 1.8% for Japanese lifetime use. The article gives the 15 to 64 age usage for Japan, while giving the lifetime proportion for Canada and the US, but implying that these last two are 15 to 64 figures. It may be easiest to change the article to give the Japanese lifetime use, which would be directly comparable.
- That needs sorting anyway, but regardless, I much prefer ALT3 as being the hookiest and likely to be of most general interest. Gog the Mild (talk) 18:04, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Gog the Mild Sorry, that was my own oversight in conflating two separate surveys. I've corrected it in both the article and hook. Morgan695 (talk) 18:34, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
- I thought that you may have. It happens - I have certainly done worse! Looks good now - let's get it on the main page. Gog the Mild (talk) 18:43, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Morgan695 and Gog the Mild: wouldn't a hookier way of phrasing ALT3 be that japanese people are nearly 25 times less likely to use cannabis than americans?
- Reping @Morgan695 and Gog the Mild: from theleekycauldron. I don't think pings work without a signature. SL93 (talk) 19:41, 13 December 2021 (UTC)

- It may be, but personally I really struggle with that formulation. Is it North American? Perhaps Americans are 25 times more likely to have used cannabis than Japanese? Morgan695 ? Gog the Mild (talk) 20:08, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- I have no preference either way, but I think the proposed hook might make for some weird link piping issues; even now piping the link as "people in Japan have used cannabis" feels a bit awkward. 21:46, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
