Fair use rationale for Image:CannonsCover.jpg

Image:CannonsCover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Quotes

Wikipedia policy is quite clear about quotes from other sources

The copied material should not comprise a substantial portion of the work being quoted, and a longer quotation should not be used where a shorter quotation would express the same information. What constitutes a substantial portion depends on many factors, such as the length of the original work and how central the quoted text is to that work.

WP is also fairly clear that Wikipedia is NOT a platform for advertising.

As far as self-published sources, WP says

Self-published or questionable sources may be used as sources of information about themselves, especially in articles about themselves, without the requirement that they be published experts in the field, so long as:

1. the material is not unduly self-serving;

.....

5. the article is not based primarily on such sources.

The earlier background section was one long HUMONGOUUUUUUS quote from the artist about his aims, which clearly violates the quotation policy and seems to verge on violating the second one. The entire section was based on the artist's personal statement which seems to violate Part 5 of the last policy cited (which admittedly talks about the article as a whole not one section.) Please rewrite as a shorter paraphrase and if possible quote other sources than the artist.--WickerGuy (talk) 04:21, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
