Bias
editThis article is totally biased and reflects the opinion of a single person. Canoas is the second richest city in the state, and home of a wealthy middle class who occupies numerous neighbourhoods. The city is no poorer than any of its adjacent cities. This article has poor quality, although actualy the informations that it contain is true. This is the brazilian conditions and every city has the same problems.
The Ulbra is a rich university? Are you joking? I have been there. It's horrible. If teachers that show up late, students that smoke in class and a library that is smaller than some Community Colleges in the United States is rich, then I don't know what rich is anymore. It is sad to think that the Ulbra is actually one of the most prominent in the state.
For the record, Canoas and the rest of Grande Porto Alegre is terrible. Delusional citizens will point to the bairrozinho of nice homes stating that it's "full of wealthy people", but they are surrounded by dangerous and slummy homes. It's dangerous to go out at night. I honestly cannot understand why anyone would live there. If you're in Rio Grande do Sul, you move to Caxias do Sul. Except for some select bairros in Porto Alegre near Moinhos de Vento, Grande Porto Alegre is intolerable. User:ricardo630 —Preceding undated comment added 03:17, 28 January 2010 (UTC).
I've been to Caxias do Sul, and it's no different, except that it's just one tenth of the size and population of Greater Porto Alegre, then of course there won't be as much poverty.
