Lens chart

The columns in the chart need to be rearranged. Would do it but don't know how.....the columns should be in this order: L, USM, USM II, USM III, USM IV, USM V, (original), II. This will arrange the variants in more logical groupings of L>USM>Non-USM. As is the oddball USM is out of place and plunked in the middle of the otherwise-similar lenses. Actual performance information

Truthfully, I don't think this page says very much; production details don't actually describe a lens. If you don't actually have a grip on the facts surrounding a topic, how do you hope to write a valid article? Oh yeah, fancy charts. --John Bessa (talk) 03:24, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

The 28-80mm predates the Internet, for the most part, so we can't fancy it up with reviews like we can with the Canon EF-S 17-55mm lens. hbdragon88 (talk) 04:00, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

well, since most folks think all but the USM and L are junk, we could add that. But then someone would want references and claim it as OR.... The links to the Canon Museum and others give about all the technical details that exist. regurgitating them here is pointless. I have added considerable text in the Description box based on the available refernces, but seriously, there's just not a lot of info to add otherwise. Ken (talk) 13:59, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Google Books reveals that the July 1992 issue of Popular Photography reviewed the original USM version, on page 64.[1] It also seems to have been sold as a kit lens for the original EOS Elan - it appears in the adverts for that camera plus the same magazine's review. The 28-105mm came out a year later, and the el-cheapo plastic-mount 28-80mm came out a year after that, so I guess it was only a "thing" very briefly. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 20:28, 24 June 2018 (UTC)
