Duplicate article
editThis article is a duplicate of an article with the same name except the other article does not have a dash between 'Plymouth' and 'Mettetal.' —Preceding unsigned comment added by Deedeebee (talk • contribs) 05:16, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
supposed controversy and push to shut down 1d2?
edituntil this wikipedia page and the linked website provided (close1d2.org), i had never once seen anything advocating for the closure of 1d2. the website linked also appears to be somewhat of a “quack” website, completely misunderstanding some basic things about aircraft and blatantly suggesting things that are near medically impossible. the airport is also described by that website as being dilapidated and run down despite being quite well taken care of (though sure a little dated in appearance), suggesting the author or authors of said site have never even been there. the site misrepresents or just fully falsifies claims and facts (such as mettetal being 7 minutes away from the somewhat nearby willow run airport - they are nearly or over 10 miles apart by car depending on which route you take, and the journey takes no shorter than 20 minutes) and acts as if mdot (michigan department of transportation) is directly responsible for every single thing that ever happens at the airport, including individual pilots actions. the site suggests things like pancake breakfast fly-ins or chili fly-ins are actually just attempts for mdot to lobby, despite food related fly-ins being a known staple for small local airports throughout the country. they have used very lightly photoshopped images of the january 6th capital insurrection to try to support their claims, with the faces of those there replaced with anti-mdot and 1d2 sentiments. they report “noise complaints” from people in places physically too far away to even possibly hear the supposed noise from a commercial jet liner let alone a small personal aircraft. strangeflavour (talk) 02:00, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
