New photo?
editNow that SpaceX has erected their rocket at SLC-40, we may want to replace the Titan IV photo on this page with a photo of the Falcon 9. SpaceX has put a couple of photos in their media library. This one does the best job of showing launch site infrastructure (lightning towers) along with a rocket on the pad. You can even see "Complex 40" printed on one of the buildings in the photo.
I've seen other images from SpaceX's media library used on the site before. Is anyone familiar with how permission to use requests have been made to SpaceX in the past? --StuffOfInterest (talk) 16:07, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- I wouldn't switch the photos until SpaceX is completely finished with construction at LC-40, they still have some work to do. Once the Falcon 9 is back at LC-40 for its first flight, then the photo (IMO) should be changed. -MBK004 08:21, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
- And even now that SpaceX has successfully launched Falcon 9 on her inaugural launch from SLC40, I don't think it is an either/or situation, more of a both/and case where both Titan and Falcon photos would be appropriate for the article. We just need a good free image of a Falcon 9 on the launch pad. I've added a {{reqphoto}} tag. N2e (talk) 17:47, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with File:20080111 nightbacklit.jpg
editThe image File:20080111 nightbacklit.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.

SpaceX may modify Complex 40 for Falcon Heavy
editSpaceX may modify Complex 40 for Falcon Heavy. From Aviation Week: Musk Sees Markets For Falcon 9 Heavy.
"The first Heavy will be delivered to SpaceX’s facility at Vandenberg AFB, Calif., by November or December 2012, with a test flight “to follow soon thereafter.” SpaceX also plans to launch from Cape Canaveral either by modifying its Falcon 9 pad there or perhaps using one of the space shuttle pads after it is no longer needed"

- For the record, it seems that, in the event, SpaceX decided not to upgrade SLC40 for Falcon Heavy once they signed the lease for KSC LC39A in approx. 2014. They have completed upgrading 39A for both Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy, and have figured that one pad will give them enough pads for FH launches that need to launch from the east coast of the US. Launch List
editWhere is it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.249.139.166 (talk) 08:22, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- I just looked at the article, and at the history of the article. It does not appear that such a launch list has ever been compiled in this article. If you have a source for the launch history from this pad, feel free to add it, after all, on Wikipedia anyone can edit. Cheers. N2e (talk) 23:41, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
Explosion
editHow many months will the pad be unavailable caused by the explosion of the SpaceX rocket? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.220.90.200 (talk) 06:34, 5 September 2016 (UTC)
Picture
editIs there any free image of the destroyed pad? Would be fine to see it here! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.6.238.164 (talk) 21:29, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
Future
editWil LC 40 ever be used again? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.64.48.106 (talk) 09:50, 17 February 2017 (UTC)
Too much detail
editThe section on "Accidents and incidents" contains far too much detail about the failed Falcon 9 static firing test that appears off-topic. The long-winded explanation of what a static fire test is should be moved to the "Amos-6" article or to the "Launch vehicle system tests" article. — Quicksilver (Hydrargyrum)T @ 23:18, 17 September 2019 (UTC)

New photo?
edit@Fm3dici97 how about a new photo of the SLC-40? This image is old from 2017 and slc-40 now has the crew access tower for manned launches, if you can post a new photo it would be better :) Lazaro Fernandes (talk) 23:39, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
- That's a nice idea, I'll try to check if there are any NASA pictures available depicting the new access tower (since NASA copyright should allow to upload on Commons), if not there will be for sure when Cygnus NG-20 launches at the end of the month. Fm3dici97 (talk) 23:56, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
- Ok, if you get new images, post them there. Lazaro Fernandes (talk) 00:08, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
