Cape dress.

edit

First things first - VERY good first article, very well done. Now I must nitpick a bit. As I understand it, a cape dress would actually describe a dress which is constructed with cape-like elements - such as cloak-styled sleeves or made to otherwise resemble a cloak/cape, rather than two separate garments. I would not consider most of the cited fashionable dresses as "cape dresses" as they are basically dresses with a separate cloak or cape, which would be cape-and-dress ensembles. For me, a cape dress decribes something closer to the dresses Barbara Cartland or Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother famously wore, with long flowing cape-like sleeves or shoulder covers that reached to the hem and were very much part of the dress, rather than separate garments. A less "granny" example is definitely the Lupita Nyong'o example cited which IS a cape dress in my books. I will have to come back and possibly rework the fashion section, as I think it deals more with dresses worn with capes, than proper cape dresses. Mabalu (talk) 18:46, 12 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
