editI would like to delete the refernce to the North Sea as part of there company operations, they do not operate in the north sea anymore (if they did ever?), solely in India, Nepal and Bangeldesh. Thanks Philbentley 23:13, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
POV of article
editIn my opinion this article reads like it was written by the company in question. It would be nice if someone familer with the company would consider rewriting it for more neutrality. -- SusanLarson (User Talk, New talk, Contribs) 15:31, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
Sorry if it sounds like a POV, don't actually work for Cairn but one of their competitors. This was from my notes on a presnetation given by Mike Watts who does work for them though. Will try to clean up so it doesn't sound like so much of a POV, but thie information on there is correct. Philbentley 14:43, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
- As far as the NPOV (Neutral Point of View) the best suggestion I can make is to write about what people believe, rather than what is so. So for example, in the company image section...
"The company see's it self as a dynamic and entripuneral company that is willing to take a number o flarge risks which tradinal risk adverse larger operates would shy away from."
- could be written as
"Cairn Energy is seen by <analyst name> as a dynamic and entrepreneurial company that is willing to take on large risks which larger and more risk adverse companies would shy away from." <reference here> According to Cairn's 2004 Annual report, "Cairn’s business is international in scope and carries political, commercial and technical risks." [1] According to <Cairn's management?>, they are able to take on this risk due to careful management of financial, technical and other risks.<reference>
Take a look at what NPOV means again and work on improving the article a bit more.Kgrr 16:10, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
Original Research
editYou can't bring in information from your own notes to Wikipedia. All articles have to be written based on information from other verifiable sources. i.e. you have to provide links to your sources.Kgrr 16:10, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
- Links are not the only form of verification. References to published books are certainly acceptable, for example. RJFJR 05:55, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
Cleanup
editThe article is full of spelling and gramatical errors. Also some things are left unexplained such as the September 2005 reshuffle - what exactly does this mean??
This needs to be cleaned up.Kgrr 16:10, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
Not verified
editThere are many claims in this article such as strategy and image. How do you know what the company's strategy is without proof? Did they tell you? Did some pundit say it in an article? bring references to these sources and put them in the article.Kgrr 16:10, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
This came from a talk by the Exploration Director of the company list of directorsin 2004, in a discussion about their operation in South Asia and how they have operated there succesfully and their strategy that acheived it. Philbentley 25 march 2006
Content removal
edit- I removed the long unverified POV claims. Sources will be required to re-add this material. Wickethewok 17:25, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
