Captain Beany Benefit Fraud
editI am concerned about being accused of being vindictive by reinstating what I believe to be a relevant cited statement here. Can I have comment from others please.Canol (talk) 20:06, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
- The policy is that biographies should be completely sourced, neutral, and on-topic. We have to take special care in the case of people who are notable but not generally well-known. Perhaps one for editor assistance, a request for comment or the Wikipedia Biography talk page?--Pondle (talk) 12:46, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Thanks Pondle, I have already contacted an admin who previously blocked an editor from deleting my statement. I am not currently the writer of the statement anyway so I guess editors and admin consensus is to keep it in. Canol (talk) 14:25, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- Is this comment so valuable to the reader, it seems to be getting a bit of undue publicity that could well have a negative affect on the subject of the article, he has indeed contacted wikipedia to point this out, in this situation wikipedia is becoming the primary vehicle for this content, yes its on the bbc, but that is a five year old piece that would likely never get viewed if it wasn't linked to from this article, shall we not allow the subject of the article a bit of personal protection from our reporting this issue which is actually a very minor crime indeed. There is a thread at the WP:BLPN comments are invited there. Off2riorob (talk) 13:08, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- I think in a biography this short picking out one negative news story carries undue weight. If the event was not widely reported then it should be removed. Kevin (talk) 23:38, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks kevin, I agree with that, for such a small issue in his life it is given undue weight in the article. Off2riorob (talk) 23:58, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- The February 2010 thread at Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons/Noticeboard/Archive80#Captain_Beany which continued the above conversation seems to have ended up in favour of including it. --Belbury (talk) 20:44, 15 June 2024 (UTC)

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page
editCyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.
