Happy to offer some thoughts.

• What precisely is a superscientist? Is it a very good scientist or a superhero who is also a scientist? (It's not in the OED.) I note that in the main prose, it is "super-scientist".

  I think the intended meaning is a very good scientist, though the source doesn't explain and I haven't read the relevant stories. I added the hyphen in the lead; does that suffice? Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 23:10, 23 December 2014 (UTC)

• Technically, citations are needed for all quotes, even in the lead.

• "the disembodied brain of Simon Wright" Presumably, you don't mean disembodied- the brain would still be corporeal- detached, perhaps?

  You're right, of course, but "disembodied" is what the source says. I assume they mean a brain in a vat, though perhaps not quite in the usual philosophical sense. A quick bit of Googling finds this, which makes it definite. I've just made it "brain", which sidesteps the issue; is there a better way to say it? • Is Startling Comics worth linking? How about Better Publications?

• Your Superman link goes to an article on the character, not a particular publication

  That's the best link I could find. Apparently Weisinger didn't leave to edit a particular comic; he left to edit the group of Superman comics, and I don't think there's a suitable link for that. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 23:10, 23 December 2014 (UTC)

My only concern with the changes is the use of the volume/issue number to refer to the magazine's individual issues, both in the image caption and the table. It's not that it's wrong, it's just that it's never done that way -- nobody knows the volume/issue numbers for most magazines; it's just bibliographic data you look up when you need it. Everyone uses the cover date to identify the magazines. Is there a way to make the table correctly sortable while using the magazine dates as the visible text?
