Suburbs

edit

Although locals (I live there) still refer to Bogtown and sometimes Newtown it's usually in jest, and there aren't really any distinct suburbs any more. If someone believes so, perhaps they could post a map showing them?

As no-one has supplied any information to support the existence of suburbs in 2007, I have deleted the reference to them.

Photos

edit

I can't remember remember how many times I've driven past the turnoffs to Captains Flat without batting an eye. However this article has tweaked my interest and I'll be heading out there in the next couple of weeks to have a look and take some photos for the article. Links not worthy for article

edit

[1] includes the claim about the longest bar which I have heard elsewhere. It is in this link here which is good enough for the article and contains a lot of the history: [2]--User:AYArktos | Talk 19:44, 25 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

The mycanberra link is a joke article - nothing in it can be taken as fact. Pete - www.captainsflat.org.au

Mining company

edit

In the article we have how the mining company (Lake George Mines) was not held accountable for the pollution ... Is this a bit anachronistic? Was anybody held accountable in the 40s and 50s when the pollution happened? When the remediation work was done in the 70s, was the company or its owners still around to contribute?--User:AYArktos | Talk 20:16, 25 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

That was an edit by User:Codman that I toned down. Garglebutt / (talk) 22:45, 25 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Hmmm.... it is believed that although the exact company doesn't exist any more, I have heard that it was subsumed into BHP. Pete - www.captainsflat.org.au

Amounts of Silver and Gold mined

edit

The numbers sound very high, especially 2850 tonnes of gold is a huge amount. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.129.50.166 (talk) 03:17, 25 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

101%

edit

Did anyone add up the percentages for the concentrations in the article? 39 + 33 + 24 + 5 = 101. 129.11.250.139 14:01, 24 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

A simple rounding error. Gillyweed 20:33, 24 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
