The name of the article
editI created this split off article with a pragmatic name of Carballo (name). If there is a better name for the article I see no objection to moving it to a proposed new name. However I ask that consensus be built first. Any new name must reflect the fact that this is a generic article about the name itself, despite multiple references to The Family. It may be the same family, or multiple people of the name who are not related. This is why I chose name instead of family Fiddle Faddle (talk) 19:08, 18 February 2013 (UTC)
- I inserted relative information from previous article discussion in the fact that it is of useful information in pronounciation and spelling variation and origin. Agree with split of article. Name proposed , Carballo Linage perhaps ? Variation in spelling leads to thought that either from direct relation or not does not change the fact that its from the same origin. Thoughts?

editIt is my upmost honor to see what everyone has contributed to this article since its creation. Before I had made my effort to improve the page in June 16th 2010, its only reference was to the Sea food company Calvo. It since has developed to become a split off article. It is both a location and a family name origin. I did the research that took an immense amount of data collection and continuous input from many countries and languages. Needless to say it now shows a more complete resource. Great contributors as well as user edits have made this what it is today. Wikipedia is a great source for information and maintains its strict regulations of only allowing truth. I thank everyone who was taken part in this, and through diligence and patience have obtained a wonderful contribution collaboration page.I know that it will continue to expand and become greater, "upwards and onwards". editNew name of article proposed , Carballo Surname, reflects name itself and notes appreciation to the family's history and spelling variation. I motion to remove the parenthesis and instill Surname on its own page and not in (disambiguation). Will serve a much better purpose in search. References are according to the family, history and origin. Addressing the creation of the page.User: In tempus veritas (talk) 24 February 2013 (UTC)
- I agree with previous users to have article on its own page, its true it would serve a much better use in search. After reviewing the article the name I suggest is, Carballo Family. It all leads to this name, given its origin and history regardless if they are in direct lineage or only by name. Great job to Timtrent for his great efforts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.208.41.254 (talk) 16:39, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
Referencing
editThere are two styles of reference that are not appropriate in this article as it stands in this version:
- Generic references to Ancestry.com. The references must be to the underlying papers.
- References to any version of Wikipedia.
I have had to remove all of these They do not meet Wikipedia's stringent policies for verifiability and reliable sources.
I also doubt very much that a pure reference to the Amazon published booklet will do the job, unless page numbers or section numbers are given to prove that the source contains the information. Accordingly I am reverting to the version which requires citations.
Please work with more accuracy on those references. I appreciate the thinking behind the work you have both done, but it doesn't meet the need for full references. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 22:42, 18 February 2013 (UTC)
- I have applied the proper citations per Wikipedia’s policies for verifiability and reliable sources. This should full fill the items in mention in the previous talk.User: In tempus veritas (talk) 24 February 2013 (UTC)
External Links
editHad to make some corrections on the external links for referencing, the previous links kept faulting. Final link does the job. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.208.41.254 (talk) 21:18, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
