Increasingly, someone is editing the Cardiff International Airport entry to reflect their own preconceptions. The History section is more of a commentary than a history and this approach is creeping in elsewhere in the piece. Title of article

Where is the airport called Cardiff Wales International Airport? All sites I can find (including the official site [1]) refer to it as Cardiff International Airport. Search Google for Cardiff Wales International Airport, and all results refer to it without Wales in the title. The image on this page [2] is of the airport building with Cardiff International Airport (with no mention of Wales) written on it. Unless someone can prove otherwise, I believe the title should be Cardiff International Airport and I will rename it. Alexj2002 22:52, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

From time to time, this article suffers from POV. Best to keep a close eye.

• Reply: Cardiff Wales Airport is the former name. I think it's still like that on one sign in Cardiff (Ely Bridge) but the current title is Cardiff International User:Welshleprechaun 23:06, 20 Dec 2006

Ryanair

Does anyone know why and when Ryanair stopped serving Cardiff? I definately flew there on Ryanair and yet they don't seem to even mention it on their website anymore, nor does this list. --Kiand 12:20, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Continuing POV and vandalism

What had been a comprehensive and wikified piece has been suffering from POV and vandalism over the past couple of months. I have reverted it to an earlier, more complete version, checked all current stats and facts, removed biased comments about the airport's success or otherwise - which were not substantiated - and added relevant links. Frankly, apart from the occasional update, there seems to be no reason to mess with this entry any more.

Vandalism - again

To whoever (DaGrimReaper actually) thinks that the airport has poor transport links - This is a personal opinion and not a fact. Cardiff is also not a minor airport. Lock page to newbies?

Airlines and Destinations

Someone keeps messing with the airlines and destinations, for example air malta don't serve the airport anymore and blue islands are a private airline! Also the list seems to be messed up now and doesn't follow the general pattern that most other airport pages do

Air Malta will serve Cardiff in Summer 07. Blue Islands provides a scheduled, bookable service between Cardiff and Guernsey - although one must admit that getting a seat on it is difficult ... usually arranged via a Guernsey resort. I Disagree, If an airline operates a route to Cardiff, It is a route, therefore should be displayed.

One user (IP address, not registered user) just re-introduced wikilink destinations and said he/she would treat any changes to that as vandalism. Well I changed it, it isn't vandalism and I would ask whoever made the change to discuss it here. Take a look at the articles for Bristol, Birmingham and Liverpool airports (to pick just three examples) and in each one the destinations are not wikilinked. I think consistency is a good think in groups of articles of a similar nature. Please discuss here if you feel otherwise, rather than simply revert previous edits made by a number of registered users. --Cheesy Mike 21:47, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Can I also suggest, that working at the airport as a dispatcher i should know who comes there on a reguar basis, that Arrecife be added to Air maltas destinationas as they serve on behalf of XL and other agents once to twice a week, it is schedualed in for 15.00 Thur Arrival 16.40 Thur Departure

I have removed the New Routes and Future Airlines sub-sections which are not included in the Wikipedia:WikiProject Airports#Airport article structure article guidelines. The New Routes section simply duplicated existing information in the destinations already present and the Future Airlines section contains speculation which is not encyclopedic content. Editing oddities

Something weird is happening when I edit the article - it looks like it ends after the 2007 onwards section with nothing else on the page showing. I'm therefore not going to do any more edits today on this page until I can work out what is happening. --Cheesy Mike 16:22, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Speculation

An encyclopedia is no place for speculation. There is no basis other than tabloid media speculation for FlyForBeans' route network or a Zoom route to New York. In fact, the latter is highly unlikely. Pete 08:42, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

flyforbeans, is an airline that is very liley to start, and have said that these will be the countries the routes will be in, so I have re-added it to the list. However Zoom I entirley agree with you, there is very little chance of that happening. The Gannet 16:48, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

There's a big demand for travel to New York and the US from South and West Wales. People would rather not travel to Bristol if they can travel to Cardiff and especially if Zoom is cheaper than Continental, which it probably is 82.3.18.24 22:01, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Yes many people from South Wales do visit New York, however Zoom, have bigger fish to fry. They have a very small fleet, that isnt going to expand rapidly any time soon, if you are waiting for a flight to New York with Zoom I have a feeling you'll be waiting, a very long time (I.E Many Years). Airlines, and airports often give out press realeses like these to boost their public awareness in an area for free, as they alredy fly to Canadian destinations. cwlfly.com logo

Good to see the logo on the page. I am confused though on whether this is the logo of the airport website or the airport itself? If it is just the website logo then it isn't appropriate to have it here. If you look at the charities and photography policy docs on the website they have a completely different Cardiff Airport logo. Unfortunately they are also very poor quality so are not suitable for uploading. I am not a regular flyer from Cardiff (I'm a Bristol & Heathrow passenger) so I can't comment on what is actually used around the airport --Cheesy Mike 12:17, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Thomas Cook

Thomas Cook dont really start flying from Cardiff until next may (2008)~ for the summer season, however they do operate some flights through the winter on a one off basis. MyTravel dont fly to Cardiff through the winter either so really Mytravel wont be seen at Cardiff anymore as they will all be Thomas Cook aircraft. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Plaincrazy (talk • contribs) 12:14, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

FlyforBeans Aircraft

Have they even bought aircraft yet? They say they may start next month, thats kind of difficult with no aircraft! If they do, where are they being stored? -Planenut321

Airlines websites states that they have been looking at aircraft, whether they have actually bought any yet, who knows. They are not starting operating until beginning of next year (March 2008) as they have only just started to interview recruits aswell.

Isles of Scilly Skybus
